Abstract: A ferrite magnetic material comprising a primary phase of a magnetoplumbite-type hexagonal ferrite, the primary phase having a composition represented by formula (I), can provide improved magnetic properties in terms of the residual magnetic flux density (Br), intrinsic coercive force (iHc), squareness (Hk/iHc), and maximum energy product (B.Hmax). Therefore, a segment-type permanent magnet derived therefrom can be used in the manufacture of small type motors for automobiles, motors for electric equipments as well as for home appliances, and other devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cancelling interference from a received signal in order to properly detect a signal of interest are disclosed. A combined signal of interest plus interference signal may be received. A copy or sample of the interference signal may be determined. The interference signal and the combined signal of interest plus interference signal may be converted to the optical domain. The interference signal may be optically phase shifted by ?180 degrees, which may result in an optically inverted interference signal. The optically inverted interference signal may be variably optically attenuated and/or variably optically time delayed, for example based on a detected output power of an optical subsystem of the interference cancellation system. As a result, interference cancellation of the interference signal from the combined signal of interest plus interference signal may be achieved, resulting in 50 dB or more of cancellation of the interference signal.

Abstract: A computer identifies a relationship among a subset of a set of data blocks, a basis of the relationship forming a context shared by the subset of data blocks. The computer selects a code data structure from a set of code data structures using the context. The context is associated with the code data structure, and the code data structure includes a set of codes. The computer computes, for a first data block in the subset of data blocks, a first code corresponding to a content of the first data block. The computer determines whether the first code matches a stored code in the code data structure. The computer replaces, responsive to the first code matching the stored code, the first data block with a reference to an instance of the first data block. The computer causes the reference to be stored in a target data processing system.

Abstract: An SSD controller with two SAS interfaces includes an internal switch or expander to allow the SSD controller to function as both an initiator and target. Data packets received through one of the SAS interfaces may be directed to solid state memory elements directly connected to the SSD controller, or to one or more devices connected to the other SAS interface.

Abstract: A system supporting a common user interface for the consumption of media is disclosed. In an embodiment of the present invention, a set top box and a personal computer may have user interfaces that are substantially the same, providing users of such systems substantially the same look and feel in exchanging and consuming media. The media in such an embodiment may comprise audio, still images, video, real time video, and data. In addition, a media peripheral may also have a user interface supporting the exchange and consumption of media, and the user interface may be substantially the same interface as that of a set top box or a personal computer, having substantially the same look and feel.

Abstract: A load-bearing composite structure for connection to a support body or structure. The load-bearing structure includes a load-bearing element that is made up of continuous reinforcing fibers and a resin matrix. The load-bearing element has an attachment portion for connection to the support body. The load-bearing composite structure further includes a connection element that is formed using a molding material which is composed of discontinuous fibers and a resin matrix. The molding material is molded over the surface of the attachment portion of the load-bearing element.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for conferring pesticidal activity to bacteria, plants, plant cells, tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions comprising a coding sequence for a delta-endotoxin polypeptide are provided. The coding sequences can be used in DNA constructs or expression cassettes for transformation and expression in plants and bacteria. Compositions also comprise transformed bacteria, plants, plant cells, tissues, and seeds. In particular, isolated delta-endotoxin nucleic acid molecules are provided. Additionally, amino acid sequences corresponding to the polynucleotides are encompassed, and antibodies specifically binding to those amino acid sequences. In particular, the present invention provides for isolated nucleic acid molecules comprising nucleotide sequences encoding the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:61-121 and 133-141, or the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:1-60, 124-132, and 142-283, as well as variants and fragments thereof.

The power generation control device includes: a unit which sets an operating range that is small in the amount of fuel to be consumed for an increase in torque of the internal combustion engine; a unit which sets electric power with high power generation efficiency to a target value of power generation electric power according to rotation speed and power generation voltage of the generator; and a unit which controls so that the amount of power generation of the generator is a target value when the operating point of the internal combustion engine is in the operating range.

The CPU 9 carries out a process for separating the set of phrase waveform data having a plurality of constituent notes which form a chord into a plurality of sets of phrase waveform data each having different one of the chord constituent notes, an obtaining process for obtaining chord information by which a chord type and a chord root are identified, and a chord note phrase generating process for pitch-shifting one or more of the separated phrase waveform data sets in accordance with chord type and combining the separated phrase waveform data sets including the pitch-shifted phrase waveform data to generate waveform data indicative of a chord note phrase as accompaniment data.

The fixing interface is formed in the frame part of the hoisting machine. Abstract: An apparatus for image adjustment includes an acquisition unit, a detection unit, and a correction unit. The acquisition unit obtains a reference image obtainable by a reference pattern image being captured by an imaging apparatus. The reference pattern image is projected by any single projector out of a plurality of projectors, as a synthesized image of pattern images which can be projected by the projectors and have different colors with each other. The reference pattern image has a combination color of the different colors. The detection unit detects, on the basis of data of the reference image, a chromatic aberration-derived positional deviation which is a positional deviation in the pattern images corresponding to a chromatic aberration that occurs due to the imaging apparatus. The correction unit corrects, the positional deviation of the pattern images each being projected by the corresponding projector, using data of the chromatic aberration-derived positional deviation.

Abstract: A communications system includes a trusted wireless access gateway, a broadband network gateway and a user equipment. The user equipment is configured to transmit an attachment request. The broadband network gateway is configured to receive the attachment request from the user equipment and determine whether the attachment request is an extensible authentication protocol (EAP) authentication request and forward to the trusted wireless gateway the attachment request when is determined that the attachment request is an EAP authentication request. The trusted wireless access gateway is configured to fulfill the attachment request based on a type of the attachment request.

For a period during which the first input signal is permitted to be input to a first electrode of a variable resistance element, the bipolar sawtooth pulse voltage generated within the neural network circuit element including the variable resistance element which is applied with the first input signal from another neural network circuit element is input to a control electrode of the variable resistance element. The resistance value of the variable resistance element changes due to an electric potential difference between the first electrode and the control electrode, the electric potential difference being generated depending on an input timing difference between a voltage applied to the first electrode and the voltage applied to the control electrode.

Abstract: A fin resistor and method of fabrication are disclosed. The fin resistor comprises a plurality of fins arranged in a linear pattern with an alternating pattern of epitaxial regions. An anneal diffuses dopants from the epitaxial regions into the fins. Contacts are connected to endpoint epitaxial regions to allow the resistor to be connected to more complex integrated circuits.

Abstract: A circuit disconnection element that can open or short-circuit between a power storage element and a step-up/step-down bidirectional chopper circuit is provided in a power storage system, thereby preventing a self-discharge state in a process of charging. Furthermore, at the time of occurrence of an abnormality, the power storage element is detached from other devices including the step-up/step-down bidirectional chopper circuit. Accordingly, an energy loss of the power storage element at the time of power regeneration can be reduced to improve the energy use efficiency. Further, breakage influences such that the power storage element causes breakage in other devices at the time of occurrence of the abnormality can be prevented, thereby enabling to obtain an AC motor drive device having mounted therein a highly safe power storage system.

Abstract: A high density server including a plurality of portable devices is disclosed. The portable devices may be arranged in drawers, which may be assembled into shelves for mounting within the high density server. The server rack of the high density server has a substantially open bottom and open top to permit passive airflow in and around the portable devices housed therein. Because of the configuration of the portable devices within the server, the computing power density is increased over a traditional server. Also, the design of the portable devices and their placement within the high density server minimizes the need for active cooling and in some embodiments removes the need for active cooling mechanisms altogether. The portable devices are encased in a protective coating that facilitates heat dissipation away from the portable device. The portable devices include components found in traditional servers.

Abstract: A thin display device includes a display unit and an exterior case. The exterior case accommodates the display unit therein. When accommodated in a packing case, the exterior case 8 is held by shock-absorbing members at upper and lower corner regions. A back cabinet of the exterior case is mounted on the display unit so as to cover a back side of the display unit. The display unit includes bead portions for reinforcement on peripheries of the upper and lower corner regions held by the shock-absorbing members. The display unit also includes a plurality of screw-fitting portions on the bead portions. The back cabinet is threadedly mounted on the screw-fitting portions. It is possible to prevent the thin display device from being damaged by a mechanical impact during transportation.

Abstract: A web-member cutting apparatus for cutting a web member at intervals in a transport direction includes: an intermittent transport mechanism for intermittently transporting the web member in the transport direction; a disc-like rotatable blade member for cutting the web member by moving along an intersecting direction while rotating about a rotation shaft during a suspension period of transport of the web member, and a downstream pressing member for regulating movement of the web member by pressing the web member against the intermittent transport mechanism at a position downstream from a target cut position in the transport direction throughout a period during which the rotatable blade member is cutting the web member.

Abstract: A semiconductor devices including non-volatile memories and methods of fabricating the same to improve performance thereof are provided. Generally, the device includes a memory transistor comprising a polysilicon channel region electrically connecting a source region and a drain region formed in a substrate, an oxide-nitride-nitride-oxide (ONNO) stack disposed above the channel region, and a high work function gate electrode formed over a surface of the ONNO stack. In one embodiment the ONNO stack includes a multi-layer charge-trapping region including an oxygen-rich first nitride layer and an oxygen-lean second nitride layer disposed above the first nitride layer. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: An example system may comprise at least one solar panel including a plurality of photovoltaic cells, wherein the photovoltaic cells are grouped into at least a first group of cells and a second group of cells. The first and second groups of cells may be coupled in series to a DC bus to deliver DC voltage and power to the DC bus. The system may further include first power conversion circuitry configured to generate power from the first group of cells and second power conversion circuitry configured to generate power from the second group of cells, and inverter circuitry coupled to the DC bus and configured to generate AC power from the DC bus. The first power conversion circuitry may be configured to automatically adjust at least one of an output voltage or power delivered to the DC bus based on an operating point of the second power conversion circuitry.
