Abstract: AV equipment enables individual initial setting for each user utilizing near field communication without requiring any cumbersome operation. A determiner determines whether or not identification information of a portable device obtained by a near field communicator is identical to registered identification information to detect the registered portable device, which is located close to the AV equipment. A setter reads initial setting detail corresponding to the portable device detected by the determiner from the memory, and sets the read initial setting detail to the AV equipment. In searching the portable device, an output power controller initially sets the output power to an initial value, and gradually increases the output power while the registered portable device is not detected.

  • Publication number: 20130170734
Abstract: Inputs of a plurality of images constituting a group of images of items regarded as non-defective items are previously accepted and stored, and a defect threshold for detecting a defective portion of an inspection object is set based on the plurality of stored images. A defect amount to be compared with a determination threshold for making a non-defective/defective determination on the inspection object is calculated with respect to each of the plurality of stored images based on the set defective threshold, and whether or not each of the calculated defect amounts is an outlier is tested by use of at least one of a parametric technique and a non-parametric technique. Outlier information for specifying an image whose defect amount has been tested to be the outlier is displayed and outputted.

  • Publication number: 20130169151
Abstract: A microwave excited ultraviolet lamp system with a data logging and retrieval circuit and method for operating the same. The data logging and retrieval circuit stores operational data in a cache memory using a FIFO data storage protocol. The contents of the cache memory are periodically copied to a larger removable memory so that the removable memory contains a relatively long historical record of the system operational parameters. The data logging and retrieval circuit includes a data port configured to load the contents of the cache memory into an external device when the device is coupled to the data port. A second data port allows the external device to supply power to the data logging and retrieval circuit so that data may be retrieved when the internal power supply is malfunctioning. Data stored in the removable memory may be protected so that it may only be accessed by authorized personnel.

  • Publication number: 20130174168
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for policy-driven (e.g., price-sensitive) scaling of computing resources in a networked computing environment (e.g., a cloud computing environment). In a typical embodiment, a workload request for a customer will be received and a set of computing resources available to process the workload request will be identified. It will then be determined whether the set of computing resources are sufficient to process the workload request. If the set of computing resources are under-allocated (or are over-allocated), a resource scaling policy may be accessed. The set of computing resources may then be scaled based on the resource scaling policy, so that the workload request can be efficiently processed while maintaining compliance with the resource scaling policy.

  • Patent number: 8475590
Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing a crystalline ribbon continuously from a melt pool of liquid feed material, e.g. silicon. The silicon is melted and flowed into a growth tray to provide a melt pool of liquid silicon. Heat is passively extracted by allowing heat to flow from the melt pool up through a chimney. Heat is simultaneously applied to the growth tray to keep the silicon in its liquid phase while heat loss is occurring through the chimney. A template is placed in contact with the melt pool as heat is lost through the chimney so that the silicon starts to “freeze” (i.e. solidify) and adheres to the template. The template is then pulled from the melt pool thereby producing a continuous ribbon of crystalline silicon.

  • Patent number: 8474506
Abstract: An apparatus for bonding substrates includes a base member having a top surface and a recessed region which is configured for receiving at least a first substrate. The apparatus also has a plurality of support members disposed over the top surface for supporting a second substrate peripherally over the first substrate. Each support member is configured to vary a separation between the first substrate and the second substrate. Moreover, a pressure bar is configured to cause a center portion of the second substrate to contact the first substrate while the support members maintain peripheral separation between the first substrate and the second substrate. In operation, a bonded region between the first and the second substrates is expanded radially from the center portion when the support members are positioned to reduce the separation between the first and the second substrates.

  • Patent number: 8477212
Abstract: A camera device is provided with an imager that outputs a long exposure signal and a short exposure signal within one field period; a knee processor that compresses a long exposure signal having the luminance level of a knee point or higher at a compression rate (i.e., decreases an inclination of an incident light amount-luminance level line, representing a variation in a luminance level with an amount of incident light); and a knee controller that adjusts the knee point and the compression rate according to a luminance level of a synthesized signal obtained by synthesizing the long exposure signal and the short exposure signal. In this knee control, the knee point decreases with an increase in the luminance level of the synthesized signal, and the inclination is adjusted to approach an original inclination thereof.

  • Patent number: 8476895
Abstract: A power measuring system, a measuring apparatus, a load terminal, and a device control system are provided. A voltage sensor detects a voltage waveform, and a current sensor acquires a current waveform, of a power line in a noncontact manner. A load terminal operates to connect the power line and a voltage measuring terminal to measure a current flowing from the power line to a load and to calculate a voltage value from the measured current value and the load. The load terminal transmits, in response to a request from a measuring apparatus, the measured current value and the calculated voltage value to the measuring apparatus via a communication means. A control portion of the measuring apparatus receives the current value and the voltage value from the load terminal. The control portion calculates a power value based on the received current value, voltage value voltage waveform and current waveform.
