    Abstract: A signal portion is extracted from an input signal for each frame having a specific duration to generate a per-frame input signal. The per-frame input signal in a time domain is converted into a per-frame input signal in a frequency domain, thereby generating a spectral pattern. Subband average energy is derived in each of subbands adjacent one another in the spectral pattern. The subband average energy is compared in at least one subband pair of a first subband and a second subband that is a higher frequency band than the first subband, the first and second subbands being consecutive subbands in the spectral pattern. It is determined that the per-frame input signal includes a consonant segment if the subband average energy of the second subband is higher than the subband average energy of the first subband.

    Abstract: A cryptographically-secure component is used to provide read-undeniability and deletion-verifiability for messaging applications. When a messaging application of a sending node desires to send a message to a messaging application of a receiving node, the sending node requests an encryption key from the receiving node. The cryptographically-secure component of the receiving node generates an encryption key that is bound to a state of the receiving node. The messaging application of the sending node encrypts the message using the encryption key and sends the encrypted message to the messaging application of the receiving node. Because the encryption key used to encrypt the message is bound to the state associated with reading the message by the cryptographically-secure component, if the receiving node desires to decrypt and read the encrypted message, the receiving node may advance its state to the bound state to retrieve the decryption key.

    Abstract: A method for minimizing the amount of metal crosslinked viscosifier necessary for treating a wellbore with proppant or gravel is given. The method includes using fibers to aid in transporting, suspending and placing proppant or gravel in viscous carrier fluids otherwise having insufficient viscosity to prevent particulate settling. Fibers are given that have properties optimized for proppant transport but degrade after the treatment into degradation products that do not precipitate in the presence of ions in the water such as calcium and magnesium. Crosslinked polymer carrier fluids are identified that are not damaged by contaminants present in the fibers or by degradation products released by premature degradation of the fibers.

The dura layer is then secured over the exposed brain tissue so as to create a watertight seal and the previously harvested portion of the skull is inserted in in the opening and secured to the skull to close the opening.
