Abstract: A wireless encoder system facilitates operation and control of a motor, such as linear motor. The system includes an encoder sensor moveable with a first part of the motor. The encoder sensor is operative to sense movement of the first part relative the second part and provide an encoder signal having an electrical characteristic indicative of the sensed movement. A transmitter, which is associated with the encoder sensor, is operative to transmit a wireless transmitter signal based on the encoder signal. A remote receiver that receives the wireless transmitter signal thus may determine position and/or movement of the first part of the motor relative to a second part of the motor.
Abstract: In a wireless USB data transfers over UWB, software configures hardware thresholds to control data transfer in a manner that uses bandwidth for good connections over bad connections, given the high error rate experienced with wireless USB. Periodic transfers are first attempted before asynchronous transfers, as long as the periodic transfers are successful. When failures are occurring, the hardware includes a mechanism having a software-configurable threshold specifying the number of errors a given endpoint can tolerate before it is paused in the schedule. By pausing transfer attempts that are likely to again fail, endpoints with successful transfers are favored over those experiencing errors. When the number of active transfers pending exceeds a software-configurable notification threshold for isochronous endpoints, the hardware notifies the software of this state, corresponding to a low-buffer condition at the receiver.

Abstract: A recording medium is provided wherein type determination and writing possibility determination is enabled for various types of disks. Opening and closing structure functions to open and close a detection hole of a cartridge. The structure forms a plane substantially horizontal level with a reference plane of the cartridge at a position of a detection hole when the detection hole is in a closed state. The cartridge has at least a first detection hole and a second detection hole formed therein. The second detection hole (H1) is opened and closed by the opening and closing structure, and the first detection hole (H0) is in an open state at all times.

Abstract: A correction tool that displays a correction widget when a user acts to correct text is provided. More particularly, if the user places an insertion point in or to the immediate left of the text, or selects the text, the tool displays the correction widget immediately to the left of the selected text. The user can then quickly access a correction interface for correcting the text simply by moving the pointer the short distance from the insertion point to the correction widget. When the user activates the correction widget, the tool displays the correction interface immediately proximal to the correction widget. Thus, the user need only move the pointer a small distance further to then correct the text using the correction interface.

Abstract: An apparatus for and method of utilizing an internet terminal coupled to the world wide web to access an existing proprietary data base management system having a dialog-based request format. The user request is received by a web server from the world wide web and converted into one or more sequenced data base management commands stored as corresponding to the service request. If a particular service request requires access to secured data and/or services, the request may be granted in relationship to a particular user security profile. This security profile is determined through a special field indicative of the internet user transferred in conjunction with the service request.

Abstract: The spark plug manufacturing apparatus includes a holding plate formed with a plurality of mounting holes penetrating from a front surface to a rear surface thereof for holding therein hollow tubular insulators of spark plugs, each of which is fitted therein with a center electrode and a metal stem provided with a terminal part, and is charged with a powder resistance material between the center electrode and the stem, and an electric furnace for heating the insulators held in the mounting holes of the holding plate. The holding plate is made of a ceramic material containing not less than 50 wt % of silicon nitride.
Abstract: Disclosed is a communication line connecting adapter which adequately connects an ordinary telephone, IP phone and modem/facsimile machine to a connecting party. The adapter comprises first to third switches, a line which connects a common terminal of the first switch to the modem/facsimile machine via a first DAA circuit, a line which connects a zeroth node terminal of the first switch to a public telephone line and a common terminal of the second switch, a line which connects a first node terminal of the first switch to a VoIP gateway via an SLIC, a line which connects the first node terminal of the first switch to a zeroth node terminal of the third switch, a line which connects a zeroth node terminal of the second switch to the VoIP gateway via a second DAA circuit, a line which connects a first node terminal of the second switch to a first node terminal of the third switch, and a line which connects a common terminal of the third switch to an extension line.
Abstract: Conductive wires run parallel to each other and connect a Hall element and an ECU. The conductive wire includes an extracting part and a wiring part. The extracting part runs along a surface of a base, on which the Hall element is positioned, and in a direction of a sensitivity of the Hall element. The wiring part extends from the extracting part and runs near a rotating crankshaft in an axial direction of the crankshaft. Similar to the conductive wire, the conductive wire includes an extracting part and a wiring part. Conductive wires run parallel to each other and connect a Hall element and the ECU. The conductive wires include an extracting part and a wiring part, and an extracting part and a wiring part, respectively.
Abstract: Image data are inputted from a data processing means (23) into storage means (24) so that light emitting elements on one line (28a) of a light emitting element (yellow) line head (28) are actuated according to signal outputted from a shift resistor (24a) so as to expose pixels on an image carrier. At a point of time when the pixels reach a position corresponding to the light emitting elements in a next line (28b) by moving the image carrier in a direction of arrow X, the image data are transmitted to a shift resistor (24b) and then outputted to the line (28b) so as to expose the pixels again. The image data are transmitted among the shift resistors sequentially by moving the image carrier, thereby achieving the multiple exposure of the same pixels.
Abstract: A noise filter has an element body, first to fourth terminal electrodes, and a connection conductor. The first to fourth terminal electrodes are disposed on the exterior of the element body. The connection conductor is also disposed on the exterior of the element body. A capacitor is formed in the element body and is electrically connected between the first and second terminal electrodes and the third and fourth terminal electrodes. The first and second terminal electrodes are electrically connected through the connection conductor. The connection conductor is covered by a resin containing ferrite. Since the connection conductor is covered by the resin containing ferrite, the connection conductor and the ferrite-containing resin function as a ferrite bead inductor.
Abstract: A memory controller includes scrub circuitry that performs scrub cycles in a way that does not delay processor reads to memory during the scrub cycle. Atomicity of the scrub operation is assured by protocols set up in the memory controller, not by using an explicit atomic read-correct-write operation. The result is a memory controller that efficiently scrubs memory while minimizing the impact of scrub cycles on system performance.

Abstract: An electrical cable assembly is provided including multiple cables having wires. The cables each include a shield. A connector receives ends of the wires and includes an outer surface. A conductive shield ring has an outer periphery and includes multiple holes receiving the cables. The shield of each cable engages an inner surface provided by a corresponding hole in the shield ring. In one example, the circumference of each shield is soldered to the corresponding hole. A wrap engages the outer periphery and the outer surface to electrically connect the connector to the shields. In one example, the wrap is conductive heat shrink wrap that surrounds and engages the entire outer surface of the shield ring.
