Abstract: A web server for displaying search results is disclosed. The web server may be configured to present the user a search page for receiving a query from the user and search options regarding the query over the public network from a user; display results of the query to the user on a web page as titles in list form, the titles corresponding to entries retrieved from the database as a result of the query; and wherein the number of titles displayed on the web page corresponds to a user-defined number contained in the search options.
Abstract: A fine wiring line profile with satisfactory precision is formed from a multilayer film containing a first layer made of an aluminum alloy and a second layer formed thereon made of a molybdenum-niobium alloy, by simultaneously etching the two layers constituting the multilayer film through only one etching operation while preventing the upper layer from forming overhangs. An etchant for etching a multilayer film containing an aluminum alloy layer formed over a substrate and a molybdenum-niobium alloy layer formed thereon having a niobium content of 2-19% by weight contains an aqueous solution of an acid mixture containing phosphoric acid, nitric acid, and an organic acid; and a method of etching is carried out with this etchant. The etchant preferably has a phosphoric acid concentration Np of 50-75% by weight, a nitric acid concentration Nn of 2-15% by weight, and an acid ingredient concentration defined by Np+(98/63)Nn of 55-85% by weight.

Abstract: An improved method of laser marking semiconductor wafers is provided wherein undesirable subsurface damage to a silicon semiconductor wafer is avoided while providing a relative improvement in marking speed for a predetermined spot diameter. A laser pulse of a laser beam has a predetermined wavelength, pulse width, repetition rate, and energy. The method further includes irradiating a semiconductor wafer with the pulsed laser beam over a spot diameter to produce a machine readable mark on the semiconductor wafer. The mark has a mark depth. The pulse width is less than about 50 ns, and the step of irradiating irradiates over the spot diameter to produce a mark having a mark depth substantially less than about 10 microns.
Abstract: Data is estimated from a received vector comprising a plurality of communications. A received wireless signal is converted to a baseband signal, which is sampled to produce a received vector. Channel responses are estimated for the received communications. The noise variance is estimated. The noise variance is scaled by a scaling factor. Samples are processed using the estimated channel responses and the scaled noise variance to produce a spread data vector. The spread data vector is despread to recover the data of the received wireless signal.

Abstract: A client device is registered with a network server by having the network server generate a key number and emit an optical representation of the key number for optical reception by the client device. The client device determines the key number from the received optical representation, and encrypts or decrypts a communication using the key number, or a value based on the key number. In one embodiment, the optical representation may be either an infrared signal or visible light signal.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus has a distortion correction processing unit. The image processing apparatus has a distortion correcting range calculating unit that calculates an input image range necessary for distortion correction processing of the distortion correction processing unit. Thus, the corrected image (output image) obtained by the distortion correction processing can be outputted without overs and shorts for the image output range. The distortion is corrected by effectively using input (picked-up) image data, serving as the original data. Further, the distortion including the pincushion distortion, the barrel distortion, and the curvilinear distortion is effectively corrected.
Abstract: Human HAKAI (hsHAKAI), an E3-ubiquitin ligase, can be inhibited to treat proliferative disorders, such as cancers, dysplasias and hyperplasias. Effective levels of hsHAKAI can be inhibited, for example, using antisense oligonucleotides, ribozymes, interference RNA, and antibodies. Test compounds can be screened for binding to hsHAKAI, for disruption of hsHAKAI-E-cadherin binding, or for inhibition of hsHAKAI enzymatic activity to identify therapeutic compounds for treating proliferative disorders.
Abstract: A data receiver circuit in a receiving chip provides the capability to characterize an interface, which includes one or more inter-chip communication lines, between a transmitting chip and the receiving chip by transmitting the data across a primary data path and a secondary data path, latching the data in the secondary data path using a clock signal that is skewed relative to a clock signal used to latch the primary data path, comparing the data latched from the primary and secondary data paths, and recording errors. Because the primary data path is not impacted by the test cycle, the test cycle may be run while data associated with applications running on the system are transmitted across the inter-chip communication lines.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method, and article of manufacture for maintaining consistent copies of data between a primary site and a secondary site. One or more backup components receive backup messages from the primary site describing transactions. Transactions received from the primary site at the backup components are referred to as “inbound transactions.” The backup components associate these inbound transactions with an identifier such that all transactions associated with a certain identifier comprise all of the activity on the consistency group for a certain period of time. The backup captain periodically notifies the backup components to pause (i.e., stop receiving inbound transactions temporarily), and once all backup components indicate that they have paused, the backup components are notified to resume receiving transactions and associate the newly received transactions with a new identifier. At the same time, the backup components are sending transactions to the secondary storage devices.

Abstract: A system and method for deploying a resource over a content-specific session is provided. A client requests a resource from a service provider, such as an ISP. The service provider provisions the order and records the order in a data store. A service login identifier is created with attributes, such as bandwidth, that correspond to the requested resource, such as a movie or network accessible storage. The client logs into the service provider using the service login identifier and the client's normal password. The service login is authenticated and a session is established using the attributes that correspond to the requested resource. The client is directed to the requested resource by using a resource URL that was provided by the service provider, such as a URL to a requested movie or network accessible storage.

Abstract: A method for controlling access to digital information is performed based on a plurality of decryption keys sent by the information provider. A first type of decryption key instructs a user's host system to reproduce the digital information in accordance with a first level of reproduction quality degradation. Additional keys may specify other degradation levels. The quality of the digital information may be degraded based on a time condition or a use condition. Alternatively, only a portion of the information may be made viewable by a user. In order to obtain full and unrestricted access, the user must obtain a type of decryption key from the provider which removes all previous limitations on reproduction quality degradation.

Abstract: A software network bridge is disclosed which allows the connected network segments to be presented as a single network unit to the host computer. The software bridge can be implemented as an intermediate network driver, abstracting multiple network segments into a single network interface for higher level protocols and applications. While the intermediate network driver acts as a software bridge implementing the Spanning Tree Algorithm, it also acts a network interface driver to higher level protocols, conglomerating information from the multiple underlying network interface cards and forwarding along commands from the higher level software to the appropriate network interface card. The intermediate network driver can also simultaneously send the same data packet through multiple network interfaces by creating multiple packet descriptors, each pointing to the same data, but each given individually to the underlying network interfaces to control during their transmission.

The waterproof connector includes: a waterproof sealing member mounted in a connector housing of the waterproof connector; a sealing holder for pressing the waterproof sealing member into the connector housing; and a slider slidably mounted to the connector housing, the slider including a lock-releasing part for releasing a lock between the connector housing and an opposite connector housing, wherein the sealing holder and the slider are connected integrally with each other through a breakable part and the breakable part is broken when the sealing holder is pressed.
Abstract: Apparatus having a cache memory including cache lines configured to cache data sent from an input/output device and an eviction mechanism configured to evict data stored in one of the cache lines based on validity state information associated with the data stored in the one cache line. Each cache line has multiple portions, and validity bits are used to track the validity of respective portions of the cache line. The validity bits are set to predefined values responsive to the number of bytes written into the respective portions in one write transaction. The cache line is evicted by the eviction mechanism when the validity bits corresponding to the cache line all have the predefined values. The eviction mechanism is configured to evict the data even if the cache memory is not full.
