Abstract: An automated lighting system for operating rooms that aims and focuses light into a work area while eliminating shadows. Mounted to a boom system, akin to traditional operating room lights, or a specially made frame, adjustments to the lighting can be made conveniently, with little or no manual adjustment of the lights. The disclosed automated lighting system allows a surgeon to easily define a target region with some type of user interface, then lights automatically adjust based on the surgeon defined target region to illuminate the target region.
