Abstract: A mobile chipper shredder includes a removable fin plate positioned within the rotor chamber. The removable fin plate includes a main body that has an arcuate shape and a plurality of fins that extend toward a rotor assembly from the main body. The fins are spaced on the main body so as to not interfere with paths of travel of a plurality free-swinging shredding hammers of the rotor assembly within the rotor chamber. The plurality of fins radially overlap at least one path of travel of the plurality of free-swinging shredding hammers.

  • Patent number: 7878434
Abstract: A wood chipper includes a housing having an inlet opening and a discharge outlet with a chipper disk rotatably mounted in the housing and having a chipper knife mounted on a front face thereof adjacent a chipper slot extending through the disk. A plurality of fins are mounted on the back face of the chipper disk. An inlet hopper is connected to the inlet opening and a blow back shield is mounted in the upper end portion of the hopper with the shield including an outer layer of clear synthetic material extending across the hopper and an inner layer of synthetic material extending part way underneath the length of the layer of clear synthetic material. The inner layer may be provided with a safety warning thereon which is visible through the outer layer of clear synthetic material. A discharge chute is connected to the discharge outlet which has inwardly angled plates around part thereof. Vent holes are provided in a wall of the housing which add air flow to the wood chipper when it is being operated.

  • Patent number: 7063166
Abstract: An earth grooming device for attachment to a vehicle includes a rectangular frame having a plurality of teeth secured to the front thereof to form a rake and a scraper blade secured to the rear of the frame. A side rail is attached to each side of the frame with each side rail having a bottom edge tapered forwardly and upwardly beginning from a point intermediate both ends of the side rail where a bottom edge of the scraper blade is positioned and tapered rearwardly and upwardly from the point to form a fulcrum about which the side rail pivots. A pair of rear wheels are mounted adjacent the ends of the side rail and a pair of adjustable wheels are mounted intermediate of the frame. Actuator means are also provided for adjusting a height of the pair of adjustable wheels relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 6662878
Abstract: A transmission for a trimmer/mower can be easily mounted onto a bearing housing of a trimmer/mower. The trimmer/mower has a vertically extending drive shaft and the transmission has a worm gear drive assembly that is drivingly connected to the drive shaft to provide an output shaft extending substantially horizontally. The worm gear drive assembly enables speed reduction and torque conversion that increases the speed of rotation and torque of the output shaft as compared with that of the input shaft. Attachments to be used on the trimmer/mower that operate in a substantially vertical plane can be mounted on the output shaft. Further, existing trimmer/mower can be retrofit with a bearing housing to which the transmission can be quickly and easily mounted. The mounting of the transmission onto the bearing housing can be accomplished without the need for tools by providing a twist-on mounting arrangement with a rotation prevention lock having a simple construction.

  • Patent number: 6363616
Abstract: A trimmer head assembly of a string trimmer mower apparatus has a stack of plates with a ground engaging member on one end of the stack. At the other end, the stack of plates is fastened to a rotating shaft that is driven in rotation by the motor or engine of the trimmer/mower. The plates of the stack have line retaining devices to which one or more lengths of cutting line are secured. Each plate is of a sufficient thickness to spread the respective line retaining devices axially or vertically apart from one another in suitable increments for providing cutting height adjustment selectively by securing a cutting line at the appropriate height. The line retaining devices enable the cutting line to be secured without tools and without disassembly of the trimmer head. Further, the line does not need to be clamped in place to ensure that it remains secured during high speed rotation of the trimmer head.

  • Patent number: 6003292
Abstract: A brush mower having deflection plate for reducing the amount of cut vegetation forwardly discharged from the intake opening at the front end of the deck. The mower additionally comprises a motor connected to the deck. The latter includes a top portion and a skirt portion extending downwardly on three sides from the top portion, thereby defining a cutting chamber. The deck also includes a blade rotatably mounted within the cutting chamber and a side discharge opening. The deflection plate has a height that is less wide than the height of the skirt portion. The deflection plate changes the airflow in the cutting chamber so that cut vegetation is directed out the side discharge opening, rather than out the intake opening.

  • Patent number: 5365724
Abstract: A device that prevents wrapping of long strands of fibrous material around an exposed rotating shaft has a stationary flange fixed to the chassis or bearing housing for the shaft and a rotating flange fixed to the shaft. The flanges are positioned to pass one another during each revolution of the shaft. When the flanges are nearest to one another, a loop of vegetation forms tightly around the flanges. Continued rotation of the shaft then stretches and tears the loop apart. This loop forming and tearing is repeated for each revolution of the shaft to effectively prevent fibrous material from wrapping around the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4763907
Abstract: A front end wall and front side walls are hinged so that they may move from a work position extending upwardly to a downwardly extending storage position. Rear side walls and a rear end wall are rigidly connected together and fixed to the base of the wagon for supporting the side walls of the work position with latches. A removable shelf for a back rest can be supported by the rear side and end walls. A rigid rearwardly extending handle can be used to pivot the wagon about its large rear wheels to pick the front wheels up for steering and going over obstacles. The handle is slidingly unclamped to be movable to a storage position.

  • Patent number: 4703613
Abstract: A two wheeled mowing and trimming apparatus is disclosed. A rotating cutting head, positioned out in front of the wheels, can be positioned adjacent to either of the wheels while at the same time being tilted. Control of the cutting head's position is maintained through the use of a handle which allows the operator to tilt the frame. In response to the tilting of the frame the wheels are turned and the apparatus can then be positioned to travel in a direction parallel with a fence or building. With the wheels turned, the vegetation existing along the outside edge of the wheel closest to the structure can be trimmed. Also the cutting head is angled downwardly as a result of the tilting of the frame so that the vegetation can be cut close to the ground.
