Abstract: Biaxially oriented polymeric films consisting of a core layer of pigmented, non-voided propylene homopolymer with a layer of voided propylene homopolymer on one surface of the core layer and a printable layer, for example of a polymer containing units derived from at least two of propylene, ethylene and but-1-ene, on the other surface of the core layer. Films of the present invention have been successfully used for in-mold labelling without the production of a leathery effect as has been observed with prior art films for in-mold labelling.
Abstract: Biaxially oriented polypropylene films having a core layer of voided polypropylene homopolymer with a layer of non-voided polypropylene homopolymer on one surface thereof and an outer, printable layer on the non-voided layer, the core layer and/or the said non-voided layer including titanium dioxide. Such films can be used to produce labels, for example with densities in the range 0.55 to 0.80 despite the presence of the titanium dioxide.

Abstract: Biaxially oriented film including a voided base layer consisting of a propylene homopolymer and a particulate voiding agent, and a non-voided outer layer of propylene homopolymer coextensive with the voided base layer, the particular voiding agent having a mean particle size of not more than 2 .mu.m. Such films have good opacity combined with good gloss for the surface of the non-voided outer layer of propylene homopolymer on the base layer.
Abstract: Biaxially oriented polymeric films consisting of a first layer of a propylene homopolymer having on one side thereof and coextensive therewith a second layer of a non-voided propylene homopolymer and on the other side thereof and coextensive therewith a third layer of a voided propylene homopolymer, the said second layer having a heat sealable layer thereon and coextensive therewith. Films of the invention have puncture resistance combined with good gloss.
