    Abstract: A tamper evident closure for a wide mouth container having a closed endcap with an overcap to coaxially rotate thereabout. The overcap is provided with an integrally formed vertically depending knife blade which is constructed and arranged to engage a weakened portion of a raised annular rib in the endcap. The endcap is further provided with a raised hollow lug which projects vertically through a corresponding aperture in the overcap. The aperture is provided with a cutting edge. As the overcap is rotated, the cutting edge of the aperture severs the raised lug, thus providing an early indication of tampering. As the overcap is rotated further and completes a rotation about said container, the knife blade completely severs the weakened portion of the raised annular rib, thus completely detaching the closure from the container. An annular bead in said overcap and a corresponding groove in said endcap may be used to reattach the severed overcap to the body of the container for reuse of the contents therein.

    Abstract: A closure for a container with a top cut tamper evident feature and including an overcap rotatably attached to a container end portion. The container end portion is provided with an integral, hollow raised annular rib having a first truncated end and a second, inclined end, the two ends separated by a weakened hinge portion. The overcap is provided with a raised, open-bottomed, channel with a first open end and a second inclined end forming a knife blade, the channel overlaying and engaging the raised rib so that when the overcap is rotated, the knife blade severs the rib and moves it up the inclined end. Once the entire rib is severed, the combined container end and overcap may be detached from the container by tearing the hinge. The overcap and closure may be provided with cooperating means to permit the closure to be reattached to the container.

    Abstract: A tamper evident closure for a container having a closed endcap with an overcap to coaxially rotate thereabout. The overcap is provided with an integrally formed knife blade which is constructed and arranged to engage a weakened annular band in the container wall near the endcap. The knife blade is located within a well which is an integral part of the overcap. As the overcap is rotated, the knife blade engages and severs the annular band, and separates the closure including the endcap and the rotatable cap from the body of the container. An annular channel may also be provided to support the overcap during rotation and thus maintain the alignment of the blade with the weakened annular band.

    Abstract: An end closure for a container comprising an end cap and a cover rotatable with respect to the end cap. The end cap has a raised portion connected to the main part of the end cap by a thinned, severable wall. The raised portion fits within an opening in the cover, which opening is defined at least in part by a knife edge. Upon rotation of the cover relative to the end cap, the knife edge will cut through the severable wall and sever the raised portion from the end cap. A pour opening is defined in the end cap when the raised portion is severed. When the opening in the cover is aligned with the pour opening in the end cap, the contents of the container may be dispensed. When the opening in the cover is out of registry with the pour opening in the end cap, no contents may be discharged. Complementary inter-engaging flanges on the end cap and cover retain the parts in assembled relationship.A tamper evident element is detachably secured within the opening in the cover by frangible sections.

    Abstract: A molded, one-piece plastic strap clamp for binding a plurality of members together comprising a base portion having a free end, a plurality of teeth formed on one side of the base portion intermediate the ends, and a body formed at the other end of the base portion, said body having an opening for receiving said free end, said opening being transverse to the axis of the base portion, said free end being insertable into said opening in a locking direction, at least one lock tooth complementary to said teeth on said base portion, extending into said opening and adapted to engage with a tooth on said base portion for preventing movement of said free end from said opening in a release direction, said lock tooth being actuated by a latch formed integrally with said body and extending outwardly therefrom so as to be readily accessible by the user to release the locked tooth from engagement with a selected tooth on the base portion to permit the free end to be moved in said release direction.
