    Abstract: A tonneau cover for a pickup truck is provided with a generally rigid panel structure composed of a sheet of polystyrene foam, between two relatively thin sheets of a generally rigid fiberglass or other composite material. A sheet of padding material and a sheet of protective plastic or vinyl, are disposed on one of the two rigid sheets. A side bracket is secured to each side of the layered sheet panel structure. Each side bracket includes a generally "C"-shaped channel for receiving an edge of the panel structure. Each side bracket also defines a generally "L"-shaped bracket portion for receiving and securing, by snap-fit engagement, a side molding piece. A corner bracket is secured to each of two perpendicular side brackets at each corner of the panel structure. The corner bracket includes a receptacle for receiving and securing a corner molding piece thereto.

    Abstract: An automotive vehicle console has a hinged lid covering a storage compartment formed within a hollow housing, a pair of cup holders disposed forwardly of and rearwardly of the storage compartment, and a sunglass holder cavity at a forward portion of the console. Each cup holder is of integral, one-piece construction and is rotatably mounted within the hollow interior of the housing. The cup holder is rotatable between a closed position in which a door attached to the cup holder is generally continuous with the outer surface of the housing and an open position in which a side-by-side pair of rigid, continuously fully-opened cup receptacles are positioned for use. Each cup receptacle comprises a stepped opening of circular configuration in which a slot in a circumferential portion of the upper edge thereof accommodates the handle of a cup placed therein.

    Abstract: In a system for covering an opening in a structure, the opening having a periphery, the structure having sidewalls surrounding the opening and extending along the periphery of the opening, and the system including a frame system mountable on the sidewall so as to surround the opening, a flexible sheet for covering the opening, and connector parts for securing the sheet to the frame, the improvement wherein said connector parts comprise a plurality of button members retained by said frame so as to be movable in the direction of the periphery of the opening and to be inseparable from said frame, each button member having a button protruding from said frame; and a plurality of receptacle members each secured to the sheet and having a receptacle in the form of a pocket for securely but detachably retaining said button of a respective button member.

    Abstract: A shield for protecting the windshield and paint finish of the hood of an automobile from impact by insects and debris. The shield has an airfoil to deflect air current carrying debris and insects away from the windshield. The shield also covers the most vulnerable surface of the hood. To facilitate easy installation, the shield may be shaped like a pocket which snugly fits over the front edge of the hood panel.
