Abstract: A method for imaging involves scanning an anatomical object within a patient and capturing reflected IR light with a plurality of cameras that are separate from the scanner. The IR images captured by the IR cameras are associated together to create an integrated image based on parallax between the IR cameras and the scanner. The integrated image is associated with a separate or optical light image of the anatomical object to generate an intra-operative 3D image that can be created in real-time. Systems for effectuating such imaging may include multiple surgical instruments supporting various cameras positioned to capture different fields of view and to increase parallax.

Abstract: A hysteroscopy system includes a scope having an internal channel, a sheath removably coupled to the scope, and an outflow channel. The sheath has a distal flange extending internally towards an outer surface of the scope. The outflow channel is formed between an inner surface of the sheath and an outer surface of the scope. The distal flange forms a distal end of the outflow channel and is generally located between the scope and the sheath.
Abstract: A surgical stapling device (10) is disclosed including a tool assembly (16) having an anvil assembly (24) and a cartridge assembly (26). The cartridge assembly (26) includes ridges (46) or protrusions (46) formed along peripheral walls of the cartridge assembly (26) to grip and stabilize tissue clamped between the anvil and cartridge assemblies (24,26). The ridges (46) serve as grippers to prevent the tissue from moving during staple formation in both the lateral and longitudinal directions. Improved staple formation can be achieved by stabilizing the tissue during staple formation.
Abstract: A jaw member, end effector assembly including the jaw member and an ultrasonic blade, and an ultrasonic surgical instrument including the end effector assembly are provided. The jaw member includes a structural body and a jaw liner. The structural body includes a pair of proximal flanges and an elongated distal portion extending distally from the proximal flanges. The elongated distal portion includes spaced-apart side rails defining an elongated opening therebetween and interconnected at distal ends thereof via a distal cap. The jaw liner is engaged within the elongated opening and includes a base and first and second arms extending from the base. Each arm defines an inwardly-angled tissue contacting surface. The jaw liner defines a jaw liner compliance feature extending longitudinally therealong between the inwardly-angled tissue-contacting surfaces of the first and second arms to facilitate outward deflection of the first and second arms relative to one another.
Abstract: A tissue monitoring system includes a sensor, a sensor reader, and at least one computing device. The sensor is releasably coupled to a staple by a tether and is configured to measure a physiological parameter of tissue and convert the measurement into a signal. The sensor reader is configured to receive the signal from the sensor and the at least one computing device is configured to receive the signal from the sensor reader and process the signal into physiological data. The sensor is implanted in tissue by the staple.

Abstract: An adapter assembly includes a base member, a housing, and a locking mechanism. The base member defines a longitudinal axis. The housing is rotatably secured to the base member and is rotatable in relation to the base member between a plurality of positions. The locking mechanism is supported on the housing and includes a locking member and a button. The locking member is moveable from a locked position in which a lock of the locking member is engaged with the base member to secure the housing in one of the plurality of positions to an unlocked position in which the housing is rotatable in relation to the base member. The button is positioned on the base member and is depressible to translate the locking member in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis from the locked position to the unlocked position.
Abstract: In some examples, a catheter includes an expandable member configured to expand radially outward from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. The expandable member is configured to be expanded and contracted in a controlled manner, e.g., in response to user actuation or automatically under the control of control circuitry of a device. For example, in some examples, control circuitry of a device can be configured to control the expandable member to expand and contract according to a predetermined expansion frequency or according to an expansion frequency determined based on a cardiac cycle of a patient.

Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure describe methods and systems for evaluating phrenic nerve integrity of a patient and a ramp-up pulse string for nerve stimulation. Integrity of a nerve may be assessed and therapy may be slowly introduced to the patient. To determine integrity, a nerve is electrically stimulated and a return signal is evaluated. For example, a time lapse and a band width of the return signal may provide information about nerve damage and a location of the nerve damage. In addition to assessing nerve integrity of a patient, a stimulation burst (e.g., an electrical stimulation) may be delivered as a ramped-up pulse string (e.g., a series of pulses with increasing voltages) to achieve smooth breathing. The voltages of a stimulation burst may be increased based on a target tidal volume for the patient. The stimulation burst may be delivered during an inhalation phase of a breath.
