  • Publication number: 20240406484
Abstract: A media receiving device receives media programmes with associated interactive services, a selected one of which can be triggered by a user pressing a selected one of a plurality of interactive buttons. The media receiving device is provided with a remote control having fewer than said plurality of interactive buttons, and preferably only one such interactive button. The media receiving device maps the interactive button pressed on the remote control to a selected virtual button, based for example on contextual information available to the device.

  • Publication number: 20240406469
Abstract: In a media substitution system, a client receives a channel including a defined break containing one or more substitutable spots. The client sends a decisioning request to a decisioning service, which determines from the decisioning request whether the client should output the linear item, or whether a substitution decision is required. In the former case, the decisioning service returns a message to the client indicating that no substitution is to take place in the relevant spot and the client outputs the linear item in the corresponding spot, without performing substitution. In the latter case, the decisioning service performs additional processing to select, from a list of items scheduled to the or each spot, an item to be output by the client in that spot, the selection being based on a profile associated with the client. The selection is communicated to the client, which outputs the selected item in the respective spot.

  • Publication number: 20240393493
Abstract: A consumer electronic device includes a low power. e.g. pyroelectric, sensor (8) arranged to detect the presence of a person (6), to switch from standby to full power mode. The sensor (8) may output a small analogue signal which is input to a microcontroller (7) for amplification and digital conversion. The microcontroller (7) is configured to supply power to the sensor (8), for example by configuring an integrated reference voltage source as an input to an integrated operational amplifier which is used to supply power to the sensor. This provides a stable low power supply, thereby reducing noise and false triggering of the sensor. Also, there may be no need to provide an additional power supply for the sensor, so reducing the number of components required and allowing for a low-cost and compact sensing circuit (5).

  • Publication number: 20240284133
Abstract: A TV audio system comprises a TV (10), at least one wireless surround sound speaker (20), and at least one a wireless network node (16, 22). The relative position of the speaker (20) to the TV (10), or to one or more viewers of the TV (10), is detecting from a state of a physical wireless channel by means of the wireless network node(s). Based on the detected relative position, at least one corresponding surround sound channel is selected for wireless output to the speaker (20).

  • Patent number: 12056174
Abstract: Systems and methods for recommending content in a media system are described. In an embodiment, the method identifies a reference metadata tag associated with content in a database, retrieves a data structure storing information of learned associations between the reference metadata tag and a plurality of other metadata tags, the data structure defining a tree of nodes each associated with a corresponding metadata tag, a root node of the retrieved tree associated with the identified reference metadata tag. A path is extracted from the data structure, spanning from the reference metadata tag to a target metadata tag, the extracted path identifying a sequence of metadata tags defined by nodes along the extracted path. Recommended content items are returned based on the sequence of metadata tags identified by the extracted path.

  • Patent number: 11999520
Abstract: A system is provided that can automatically calibrate or define a home or initial position of a moveable component of an industrial machine. During the calibration procedure, an actuator may be operated in a low speed and/or low torque mode to drive the component until the component contacts a mechanical stop. This provides a hard-stop of the component's movement while the actuator attempts to further drive the component, which creates a stall condition of the actuator. A control system monitors that actuator's performance characteristics and is configured to identify an anomalous performance characteristic(s) value that corresponds to the actuator's stall condition as a triggering event. When the control system identifies the triggering event, it defines the component's position as a null point and determines a zero point to define an initial operational position of the component as a function of the null point.

Abstract: Methods for producing an activated pectin-containing biomass composition are provided. The method includes (A) mixing a starting pectin-containing biomass material including an insoluble fiber component and an insoluble protopectin component with an aqueous solution of an alcohol to form a mixture; (B) activating the starting pectin-containing biomass material to form an activated pectin-containing biomass material comprising the insoluble fiber component and a soluble pectin component by subjecting the starting pectin-containing biomass material to (i) an activating solution formed by adding acid to the mixture to adjust the pH of the mixture within the range from at or about 0.5 to at or about 2.
