Patents Assigned to Crafco, Incorporated
  • Patent number: 10220993
Abstract: Durable consumable packaging systems for hot melt materials, and particularly asphalt. The packaging system can include an asphalt or asphalt composition contained within a durable consumable wrap or bag without the need for an outer protective container. The durable consumable wrap or bag comprises a woven or non-woven fiber based material, and particularly a spun-bonded olefin material, the olefin material comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) material. The durable consumable packaging system provides a simple, cost effective solution to a number of the problems associated with the prior art packaging containers and systems described above, while providing additional benefits to overcome the problems specific with the packaging and transport of asphalt.

  • Patent number: 6362257
Abstract: The pavement patch composition of the present invention comprises a lightweight aggregate and highly modified polymer asphalt binder. The composition is formed by heating the binder to a flowable state, mixing the flowable binder with a lightweight aggregate, and then allowing it to cool into a solid form. The pavement patch composition is used to repair voids in pavement, such as pot holes, cracks and depressions. It is applied by heating solid pavement patch composition to a flowable state and applying it to the void, or on a surface in need of repair, and then allowed to cool. The resulting patch is self-adhering, strong and flexible. The formulation of the pavement patch composition may be adjusted for specific use in a cold climate, a moderate climate, a warmer climate, or for use in various traffic applications.

  • Patent number: 6102022
Abstract: A pavement cutting machine having a rotary cutting wheel with a generally horizontal axis of rotation where rotation of the cutting wheel is selectively controlled by a clutch on either the drive shaft of the engine or a driven shaft of the cutting wheel with the clutch being activated by a deadman's switch. The machine preferably also includes a stand that enables the entire machine to be tipped forwardly about its support wheels to expose the cutting wheel so it can be serviced. The clutch preferably is an electromagnetic clutch mounted to the engine drive shaft that is selectively energized by a deadman's switch on a handle of the machine that is constructed and arranged to close upon an operator gripping handle grips of the handle. When energized or engaged, a pulley of the clutch rotates in unison with the drive shaft, transmitting torque from the engine through an endless flexible member to a driven shaft carrying the cutting wheel causing the cutting wheel to rotate.

  • Patent number: 6049658
Abstract: A hot mix applicator having a hose for transporting heated flowable material, preferably hot mix material, that has an outer casing telescoped over a flexible inner conduit. Slidably, telescopically received within the conduit is tubing comprised a single strip of thin metal helically coiled such that adjacent edges engage to form axially compressible tubing which limits bending to resist conduit kinking and crush. The conduit is attached at each end to a fitting assembly with each fitting assembly immovably fixed by an outer collar to the casing for transmitting hose tension through the casing and away from the more fragile conduit. The casing is comprised of a rubber sidewall reinforced with wire for resisting kinking, crushing, and twisting. Preferably, there is a gap between the casing and conduit that helps insulate the conduit. Each fitting assembly preferably includes a swivel fitting at least partially received within the casing to insulate it.

  • Patent number: 5974227
Abstract: A method and heating system for a hose and dispenser wand of a hot melt mix applicator using a three phase heating element powered by a generator to heat the hose and wand to maintain hot melt mix material within the hose and wand in a flowable state. To selectively energize the generator to control heat input, the heating system has (1) a controller in communication with a temperature sensor carried by the hose or wand, and (2) an output in communication with a generator control input. The generator control input enables operation of the generator to be controlled by the controller for controlling heating of the hose and wand. The heating element is a cord having a first wire receiving a phase of the three phase current, a second wire receiving another phase of the current, and a third wire receiving another phase of the current, with the cord being wrapped about the hose and wand in a helical configuration.
