  • Patent number: 5934293
Abstract: A hair iron for straight permanents includes a pair of arms joined by a pivot to enable opening and closing, and hair pinching parts formed in such a way that they approach and leave in accordance with the closing and opening of the arms. On both hair pinching parts, convex and concave arrays in waveform cross sections are formed in the arms so as to engage each other when the arms are in the approaching position. The convex and concave arrays are arranged in such a way that, along the full width of the hair pinching part, the hair tip region is dense with a short waveform pitch and the hair root region is sparse with a long waveform pitch.

  • Patent number: 5487944
Abstract: The invention is to a non-woven fabric sheet for a storage battery separator. The sheet has an excellent property of holding electrolyte by using conjugate fibers having a specific sectional form. The sheet comprises an ethylene copolymer having a specific structure which can introduce a desirable amount of sulfo groups efficiently under mild reaction condtions. Conjugate fibers having a split sectional form include a first component and a second component having a radial arrangement. The conjugate fibers are obtained by forming an ethylene based random copolymer containing a unit represented by a formula --CH.sub.2 CH(COOH)--, with polypropylene. Subsequently, a non-woven fabric sheet of a thermally bonding type is obtained by mixing the conjugate fibers with polypropoylene fibers. Subsequently, a non-woven fabric sheet for a storage battery separator is obtained by sulfonating the non-woven fabric sheet using gas such as SO.sub.3 to form a unit of the formula --CH.sub.2 C(SO.sub.3 H)(COOH)--.

  • Patent number: 5356572
Abstract: Ion exchange fibers including a polymer component having a main chain of a syndiotactic poly(1,2-butadiene) structure and containing ion exchange functional groups introduced at least part of side chain ethylene groups. These fibers may be suitably formed into a non-woven fabrics, and thus an ion exchange cloth can be obtained, which has excellent ion exchange capacity, flexiblity excellent processing capacity, high mechanical strength and elongation. The ion exchange fibers have excellent ion exchange capacity with respect to fluid such as water or gas and thus can be used as cartridge filters and fiber-filled filters.

  • Patent number: 5204197
Abstract: Conjugate fibers using, as a surface component, ethylene copolymer containing a unit represented by a formula --CH.sub.2 --CH(COOH)--, and using, as a core component, polypropylene or like polyolefin fibers, are used to obtain thermally bonded non-woven fabric sheet to the treated with concentrated sulfuric acid or the like. By so doing, it is possible to readily introduce sulfo groups to replace tertiary carbon and thus impart the fibers with hydrophilicity. By using thus sulfonated thermal bonded non-woven fabric sheet as alkaline storage battery separators, it is possible to maintain high discharge capacity retention.

  • Patent number: 5135224
Abstract: A pattern matching game machine of a prepaid card system including a plurality of pattern display units mounted on a shaft and arranged in parallel to one another, a drive motor for driving the display units under the control of a control circuit, a magnetic card reader and a card identification circuit. The control circuit includes a CPU (central processor unit), an operation circuit connected to said CPU, a printer for printing out the prize points scored by a player, a motor drive circuit for driving the display units based on the random number pulses and pulse signals, and a judgement circuit for judging whether or not the patterns on the display units are matched, whereby prize points are credited when the patterns are matched instead of discharging coins, and the prize points are printed out on a slip of paper when a signal indicating the end of a game is emitted.

  • Patent number: 5108349
Abstract: The present invention comprises an endless belt which is provided with perforations at the edge on the opposite sides at a regular interval, a pair of belt pulleys around which said endless belt is suspended, a sprocket wheel which is disposed substantially at midway between the pair of pulleys and whose teeth engage with the perforations on the endless belt, a stepping motor which drives the toothed wheel, and a drive circuit which drives said stepping motor. Said sprocket wheel has a diameter larger than that of the pulleys, so that the endless belt would tightly press against the sprocket and held in place.
