Patent number: 5971317Abstract: A large, warp resistant, reel is formed of a molded plastic cylindrically shaped hub with disk-like flanges co-axially arranged upon and secured to the opposite ends of the hub The flanges are each formed of a framework of numerous, spaced apart, radially extending spokes, and spaced apart concentric hoops. The spokes intersect the hoops and are integrally joined thereto. Thin, rigid co-planar plastic sheets extend across the spaces between, and are integrally joined to, the adjacent portions of the spokes and hoops. The spokes are generally T-shaped in cross-section with the heads of the T-shape being wide and thin and integrally formed on the inner, facing surfaces of the flanges and the legs of the T-shape being narrow and long and integrally formed on the outer surfaces of the flanges.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1998Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Creative Techniques, Inc.Inventor: Mark E. Patent number: 5004179Abstract: A reel is formed of a plastic molded huband and side, disk-like flanges. The hub is made of thin-wall, cylindrical rings that are arranged end-to-end, and the flanges are made of two or more separate radial sections having radially oriented, overlapped edges that fasten together. Removable mechanical fasteners extend through passageways formed in the hub rings and through the flanges for fastening them together. The width of the reel may be varied by changing the number of rings. The diameters of the flange may be varied by blocking off the outer portions of the mold in which the flask sections are molded to remove selected amounts of the peripheral portions of the sections for reducing the flange diameter. The hub rings and flange sections are interchangeable with like rings and sections for repair or reduced inventory purposes.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1989Date of Patent: April 2, 1991Assignee: Creative Techniques, Inc.Inventor: James S. Salloum

Patent number: 4896612Abstract: A pallet system formed of a unitary, plastic molded, grid-like base made of intersecting, spaced apart, longitudinal and transverse strips, whose upper edges define a carrying surface. The lower edges of at least some of the longitudinal strips are generally coplanar to form a skid-like base support surface that may be positioned upon a conveyor. The lower edges of the remaining strips are recessed relative to the plane of the support surface. A unitary, plastic molded nest, having integral upper formations shaped to receive corresponding portions of supported articles, is rested upon the base and overlaps some of the openings in the grid-like base. Integral projections on the nest extend into their adjacent overlapped openings and engage the sides of adjacent strips for accurately positioning the nest relative to the base.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1988Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Creative Techniques, Inc.Inventor: James S. Salloum
