  • Patent number: 7971771
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, for producing segments of tubular jackets, a strip-shaped sheet material is continuously reshaped transverse to the strip axis into a closed form and following the welding of a longitudinal seam, jacket sections are cut off the jacket strip. In at least one embodiment, a support edge is provided on the inside of the continuously formed jacket strip for the cutting operation, essentially in the form of a closed circle and extending in a normal plane to the longitudinal axis of the jacket strip, which fits directly against the inside of the jacket strip and cooperates with at least one cutting tool. The cutting tool is pivoted into the cutting position during the cutting operation along the support edge, so that a cutting region rotates once around the longitudinal axis. A section of the jacket strip is cut off, wherein during the cutting operation, the support edge and the at least one cutting tool are advanced along with the jacket strip.

  • Patent number: 7765842
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a can body (2) which is characterized in that a film piece (3c) is cut from a film web (3b), said film piece (3c) is wound up on a winding spindle (7) from its front edge to its rear edge and is maintained on the winding spindle (7) so that it somewhat overlaps. The film piece (3c) is transferred from the winding spindle (7) to a concave inner surface (11a) and the film areas of the front edge and the rear edge resting against each other are sealed with each other on the concave inner surface (11a) in the area of overlapping (14). According to the invention, a closed film piece (3d) can be transferred without complication onto a can body (2), thereby conferring on the can body (2) the function of the stable structure and on the film piece (3d) the function of the décor or the inner barrier in such a manner that both functions can be optimized in a substantially independent manner.

  • Patent number: 7670094
Abstract: To produce can bodies, a continuous can jacket is disclosed, that is sealed by way of a first joint is produced from a flat metal material. At least one sealing element is mounted on the continuous can jacket by way of an additional joint. At least one of the additional joints is configured as a laser welding seam, which forms an annular continuous sealing seam between the continuous can jacket and the sealing element(s). Before the sealing seam is welded, complementary seam contact surfaces of the can jacket and the sealing element are configured as annular continuous edge regions that flare out of narrow towards the can axis. To weld the sealing seam, the can jacket and the sealing element(s) are pushed together until the edge regions make contact, one of the end faces of the two edge regions lying on the interior of the can body and the other lying on the exterior of the body.

  • Patent number: 7584639
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to produce can bodies (24?) comprising a can shell (24) and a closing element (31b, 32, 31a) that is fixed to one face of the can shell (24). Said aim is achieved by producing a tube (11) from a metal strip (1), optionally from directly adjacent sections (112), by means of a shaping step, at least one optional cutting step, and a continuous welding step, sections of said tube (11) being used as closed convex surfaces for cans. The sections are shaped by a shell-shaping device in such a way that can shells (24) are provided into which a closing element (31b, 32, 31a), especially a can bottom (31b), can be inserted. The longitudinal seam (11a, 124) can be produced inexpensively and at great precision essentially as a continuous seam in the welding step by means of simple installations.

  • Publication number: 20080164241
Abstract: To fix a valve piece encompassing a connecting shell and a valve to a can jacket, an embodiment of a method includes a welding step in which the connecting shell of the valve piece is fastened to the can jacket as a top closing element along with the valve by laser welding. According to an embodiment, a shoulder-shaped constricted cross section is embodied on the can jacket towards the top face thereof while the border area of the closing element which rests against the shoulder is tightly pressed thereagainst and is sealingly joined to a laser seam, the top face of the can jacket lying inside the can. The method dispenses with the need to configure or fix a valve seat while eliminating the technically complex crimping step, thus also dispensing with the need for an installation used for crimping connecting shells in the filling station. The method makes it possible to produce also aerosol cans whose diameter is smaller than the diameter of a standard valve seat.
