  • Patent number: 7664833
Abstract: A method for managing connections between at least one client and at least one data server, said method comprises: (a) providing an intermediary connection apparatus comprising connections to a plurality of clients over a WAN or a LAN environment, said apparatus comprising memory buffers and at least one connection to each of said at least one data server(s) being continuously open; (b) establishing a client network connection between said apparatus and one of said clients via a network; (c) receiving a client request to receive a response from a data server over said client network connection; (d) forwarding to the data server either a request or a partial request; (e) limiting the size of the response or partial response that the server is allowed to provide at a given time to said apparatus in response to said client request; and (f) buffering data encoding requests and responses in said apparatus according to data traffic load over the connection to said server and to said client, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7572577
Abstract: The invention provides a method for recovery of cDNA from mRNA, comprising reverse transcription (RT) of mRNA using a RT primer which includes a sequence based on the 5? consensus region of the mRNA which is identical or similar to 5? consensus region of the mRNA and which includes a sequence capable of specifically hybridising to the 3? region of the mRNA, followed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using a single primer to generate ss cDNA, ds cDNA and amplify the cDNA. Primers for use in methods of the invention and kits for performing methods of the invention are also provided. The methods of the invention can partially or fully automated.

  • Patent number: 7479148
Abstract: Devices providing ultrasonic clamped cutting using asymmetrical motion include a housing and ultrasonic waveguide. A longitudinal axis extends through the center of mass of the ultrasonic waveguide. An actuating assembly provides opposable movement of a clamp arm with respect to the cutting blade, the movement defining a vertical plane having a vertical axis orthogonal to both the longitudinal axis and a horizontal axis. An end-effector coupled to the ultrasonic waveguide includes a cutting blade that cuts using ultrasonic motion. The blade's center of mass may be offset from the longitudinal axis, providing motion of the blade in both the longitudinal and vertical axes concurrently. Excursion of the cutting blade in the direction of the horizontal axis that may be limited to less than 92%, and in the direction of the vertical axis of more than 8%, of an excursion of the cutting blade in the direction of the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 7285895
Abstract: Ultrasonic devices having transducer assembly including a stack of alternating electrodes and piezoelectric elements. A mounting device having a first and second end is adapted to receive ultrasonic vibration from the stack and transmit it from the first to the second end. A bolt including a head and shaft is configured to threadedly engaged the mounting device. The transducer assembly includes a deformable pressure element having a central opening that permits insertion of the shaft therethrough, and has a convex side facing the bolt head and a concave side facing the stack in a non-deformed state, but, in a deformed state, applies compression forces to the stack based on the deformation. The deformable pressure element may alternately include a surface area, in its deformed state, substantially equivalent to the surface area of a piezoelectric element and/or a first and second beveled surface defining the concave side.

  • Publication number: 20050246824
Abstract: This invention relates to a helmet, comprising an external shell (9) and an impact-absorbing helmet liner (10) in which the helmet liner comprises a layer provided with protruding, deformable and impact-absorbing hollow knobs (7) distributed on an substantial part of the surface of the helmet liner as a protective layer. The helmet is characterized in that the hollow knots (7) are arranged for deformation by crushing in case of external impact on the helmet, and that the helmet liner (10) with the hollow knots (7) exhibits undercut. The helmet may also comprise an impact-absorbing and preferably resilient layer (2) which may be arranged between the external shell (9) and an internal lining (11) being arranged to rest in contact with the head of a user.

  • Patent number: 5280500
Abstract: A multilevel encoding scheme for transmitted data that encodes data in a multilevel code wherein the amplitude of any transition is always exactly one level during any time interval. A single-level transition between any two adjacent levels during a time interval represents a logical "1"; no transition during a time interval represents a logical "0". In a specific embodiment, modulation is limited to three defined amplitude levels equally space in amplitude and encoding is according to a three-level code. A four-bit to five-bit encoding scheme may be used to distribute bits for minimizing d.c. offset. The input data is preferably further scrambled to minimize aberrations in the emissions spectrum of signal carried over unshielded media.
