Patents Assigned to Cressall Resistors Limited
  • Patent number: 8643464
Abstract: A liquid-cooled resistor device including a block having a liquid inlet, a liquid outlet, and a cavity. The cavity is provided with a liquid flow path between the liquid inlet and the liquid outlet. The cavity can have an open side which is closed by a thermally conductive, electrically insulating flat layer. The flat layer can further support a flat resistor, the main plane of each being in parallel. The device can further include an electrically insulating blocking plate, fastenable to the block. The blocking plate can face the resistor to block the resistor on the flat layer. The device can also include a elastic pressing device positioned and configured to force the flat layer against the resistor.

  • Patent number: 6917278
Abstract: A Resistor bank has first and second supporting member. Held on to the supporting members is a resistor element comprising a strip of resistor material which is bent into a zigzag shape. The strip is continuous and has a non-planar cross section profile. A plurality of insulating spacers mounted end to end on each of the first and second supporting members isolate the element from the first and second supporting members. The engaging surfaces of adjacent spacers are of a complimentary shape thereby to enable each spacer to move relative to each adjacent spacer with any flexing of the relevant one of the supporting members. The element is held by a plurality of clips each at a bend thereof on to a respective one of the supporting members. Each clip has at least one fastening lug for insertion into at least one fastening hole in a corresponding bend in the element.

  • Patent number: 6430045
Abstract: Resistor bank cooling apparatus 1 has an enclosure 2 surrounding a resistor bank 4. At least one first vane 6 directs into the enclosure 2 air flowing past an open side 12 thereof, which open side 12 is not a side facing the direction from which the air flowing past the enclosure 2 flows. The resistor bank 4 has a resistor element 22 which functions as at least one airflow directing baffle. The or each first vane 6 and the or each baffle are each disposed thereby to create an air flow through the enclosure 2 which achieves a sufficiently even cooling of the resistor bank 4. At least one second vane 60 to the side of the or each first vane 6 remote from the open side 12 captures and deflects into the enclosure 2 air which ‘bounces off’ the closed facing sides.
