Abstract: The present invention relates to a descending device for repeated braked descent of a load from an elevated structure. The descending device comprises a housing attachable to the elevated structure; a descent shaft rotatably attached to the housing; a centrifugal brake comprising a fixed part connected to the housing and a rotatable part connected to the descent shaft; and a rope configured for attachment of the load at two different load attachment portions being separated by a descent length of the rope. The descent shaft is directly connected to the rotatable part of the centrifugal brake such that one revolution of the descent shaft translates to one revolution of the rotatable part of the centrifugal brake; and the winding angle is at least 360°.
