Publication number: 20260158697Abstract: A method includes operating a tool of a cutting machine to form a shape at a material surface. The shape has an x-fiducial at an estimated x-coordinate at the material surface and a y-fiducial at an estimated y-coordinate at the material surface. With the shape weeded from the material surface, the method includes operating a sensor of the cutting machine to capture sensor data representative of the material surface. Based on the captured sensor data, the method includes determining a measured x-coordinate of the x-fiducial at the material surface and a measured y-coordinate of the y-fiducial at the material surface. Based on a comparison of the estimated x-coordinate and the measured x-coordinate of the x-fiducial and a comparison of the estimated y-coordinate and the measured y-coordinate of the y-fiducial, the method includes determining an x-offset and a y-offset between the tool and the sensor of the cutting machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2025Publication date: June 11, 2026Applicant: Cricut, Inc.Inventors: Jackson Dean, Ellen Rasmussen, Kaushik Tilve, Veeraraghavulu Devi Veerabhadram, Gregory Alan Weaver, Jeremy Burton Crystal

Patent number: 12545040Abstract: A crafting apparatus (10) includes a working portion (22) and a base portion (20). The working portion (22) includes a lower surface (32) and an upper surface (34). The upper surface (34) defines a working three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system (X-Y-Z). The base portion (20) includes a lower surface (24) and an upper surface (26). The lower surface (32) of the working portion (22) is disposed adjacent to the upper surface (26) of the base portion (20). The lower surface (24) defines a non-working three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system (XS-YS-ZS). The upper surface (34) of the working portion (22) extends relative to the lower surface (24) of the base portion (20) at an angle (?22) for angularly-offsetting the working three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system (X-Y-Z) from the non-working three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system (XS-YS-ZS). Methods (200, 300) are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2022Date of Patent: February 10, 2026Assignee: Cricut, Inc.Inventors: John Barrus Christensen, Bryan Fred Bihlmaier, Donald Christopher Sutton, John Douglas Dalton, Ryun Bates Noble, Kyle Kenneth Johnson, Grayson Stopp, Bayden Filleul, Kurt Stalsberg, James Lynch, Norman Stevenson
