  • Patent number: 5075930
Abstract: A card is provided with a cover assembly adapted to provide enhanced cleaning efficiency. The cover is 4 covers in one with each part being set at a prescribed distance from the carding cylinder to induce increased cleaning. Air drawn through a gap at the first cover disturbs and intermingles with the fibers and loosen dirt. The fourth cover exerts centripetal action to strip away waste from the fiber.

  • Patent number: 4996745
Abstract: A flat for a carding engine comprises an elongate support bar (11) designed to be supported at each end thereof on a bend at the respective side of the carding engine. Carding elements (19) are carried by an elongate carrier (14), the support bar and carrier having interengaging formations (15,16) which restrain these parts against relative lateral movement. Adjusting means (24,25) are provided in at least two spaced locations along the support bar for adjusting the spacing between the support bar and the carrier. Each adjusting means has an associated locking means (23) for releasably locking the support bar and the carrier in an adjusted position in order to achieve a required setting of the carding elements in relation to the main carding cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4281434
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning the surface of a rotating roller (1). First and second cleaning blades (8, 9) each have an edge extending axially across the surface of the roller and adjacent thereto, the edges being parallel and directed against the direction of rotation of the roller. The edge of the second blade (9) is disposed behind the edge of the first blade (8) relative to the direction of rotation. Means are provided for causing relative movement of the blades to reverse the disposition of the edges and cause the edge of the blade (9) to scrape that surface of the blade (8) which faces towards the roller. During such movement the blade (9) is moved so that its edge contacts the roller to keep a constant cleaning action. The edge of blade (8) scrapes the surface of blade (9) as the blades return to their original disposition.
