  • Patent number: 6116444
Abstract: A closure cap for closure of containers possesses a closure base (2), a wall (3), and a pull-off ring (7). The pull-of ring is connected to the wall (3) at connecting points (8). In order to open the closure cap, a force is exerted onto the pull-off ring (7), by which means two vertical frangible lines (9) lying adjacent to the connecting points (8) will be destroyed. As a result, an area of the wall (3) can be bent outwards and opening of the closure cap will be facilitated.

  • Patent number: 6006930
Abstract: For improving the venting behavior of containers with beverages containing carbon dioxide, a container finish (1) and a closure (11) is provided with a twin-start thread. The thread comprises in each case two threads (3, 13) which extend over an angle of 240.degree. to less than 360.degree., preferably 280.degree., and which are arranged so as to be displaced at 180.degree.. In this way, initial or first sections (5), in which the threads (3) overlap each other vertically, are formed on the outside surface (2) of the container finish (1), as well as second sections (6) in which, vertically, only one thread (3) is arranged. On the inside surface (12) of the closure (11), initial or first sections (15) are formed in which the threads (13) overlap each other vertically, as well as second sections (16) in which, vertically, only one thread (13) is arranged. In each of the sections (5, 6, 15, 16), at least one venting recess (4, 14) is arranged per thread, said venting recess interrupting the threads (3, 13).

  • Patent number: 5871111
Abstract: In the case of over-tightening of the closure-cap on a beverage bottle (through turning in the wrong direction) there is the risk that, due to the high internal pressure, not only will the thread jump, but also that the cap will be ejected directly from the container. In order to avoid this risk, the invention proposes a screwable closure-cap with security against over-tightening. This cap possesses a ramp element (3) on the end of the thread oriented towards the cap-base, said ramp element being able to engage with the thread-start of the container mouth in the case of over-tightening of the closure-cap. As a result, the cap-wall in the area of the ramp element will be forced outwards in the case of over-tightening so that jumping of the thread in this region will be facilitated. In this way, jumping of the thread on one side only--on the ramp element side--will be achieved when over-tightening is continued, so that ejection of the closure-cap will not be possible.

  • Patent number: 5848717
Abstract: A snap-on seal arrangement comprising a container and a sealing cap is provided. The sealing cap comprises an elastically expandable cylindrical wall and at least one elastically deformable retaining bead for attachment to a container mouth having an external bead. An engagement surface of the retaining bead can be brought into effective engagement with an engagement surface of the external bead, wherein after the cap has been placed on, the engagement surface of the retaining bead of the sealing cap works together with the engagement surface of the external bead on the container mouth to enclose a radially outward-expanding gap. The retaining bead is elastically deformable such that the gap decreases in size or closes under the action of positive pressure in the container.

  • Patent number: 5803286
Abstract: The invention concerns a plastic screwable closure cap which possesses a bung type internal seal (4) for sealing a closeable container. The internal seal comprises a narrow sealing portion with an insert portion (6) immediately beneath, said insert portion serving to centre and gently introduce the internal seal. In order to attain the earliest possible venting of the closure cap when screwing off, venting recesses are provided on the insert zone (6). These prevent the insert portion from sealing the container, and enable the release of gas from the container as soon as the sealing portion comes out of engagement with the container mouth. The side surfaces of the vent recesses also serves as friction surfaces, in order to generally flatten irregularities on the container mouth before the actual sealing portion is engaged.

  • Patent number: 5775527
Abstract: A closure cap with a tearable anti-tamper strip (3) have flaps (5) which extend radially inwards from the inside surface of the anti-tamper strip towards the cap base. With the closure cap in position on the container mouth, these flaps (5) engage beneath a circumferential bead (6) on the container mouth. In order to enhance the stability and resistance to bending of the flaps, their lateral edge areas (7) are directed inwards in such a way that, at least one position, they possess a lesser distance in relation to the cap axis than the flap centres (8). The facing surface (11) of the flaps (5) is directed towards the cap base (1) and is inclined towards the cap axis so that, on opening of the closure, the effective force (F) impinges on the centre of the flap relatively far out. The centre of the flaps (8) is here preferaly designed to be thicker than its lateral edge area (7).

  • Patent number: 5725115
Abstract: A closure cap that is connected captively with the neck of a container. To this end, a retaining ring is used to engage beneath a bead on the container mouth when the cap is in position on the container mouth. The cap wall is firmly connected with this retaining ring by the tether. The retaining ring at the same time serves as an anti-tamper security for the closure. In its original condition, the tether runs between the cap wall and the retaining ring along the circumference of the closure cap and is connected by nominal rupture bridge pieces not only with the retaining ring but also with the lower edge of the cap wall.

  • Patent number: 5715959
Abstract: Closure caps with anti-tamper strips (3) are used to visually display initial opening of a container to the public. The possibility of opening such a container without evidence should be prevented as far as possible. The possibility of stretching the anti-tamper strip (3), in order to then manipulate it past the bead on the container mouth, is here countered by an additional security ring (7). This security ring (7) is arranged coaxially to the actual anti-tamper ring (3). It is connected to the anti-tamper ring and mainly surrounds the lower area (5) of said anti-tamper ring. Access to the actual anti-tamper ring is considerably hindered as a result. In a preferred embodiment, the security ring possesses weakened zones (10) that break during manipulation, so that the interference will be visibly displayed to the outside.

  • Patent number: 5248050
Abstract: A tamper-evident screw cap for a bottle is disclosed. A guarantee strip on the cap possesses a predetermined breakage point at which the guarantee strip is able to be separated though its entire width. The predetermined breakage point most preferably comprises at least two ribs. Preferably, a window-shaped stress relief aperture is arranged near the predetermined breakage point to improve the expandability of the guarantee strip when the cap is being screwed on for the first time. In this instance, the stress relief aperture prevents the forces caused by the circumferential expansion of the guarantee strip from breaking the predetermined breakage point. When screwing the cap off for the first time, a flow of forces is created in the guarantee strip such that the stress relief openings are no longer effective and the guarantee strip fulfills its function by tearing or otherwise separating to indicate that the cap has been removed.
