Patent number: 10769089Abstract: A write blocking system may include a host computer. The host computer may include a host processor configured as a blocking driver. A separate connection interface device may be is configured to be operatively coupled to the host computer, and include a switch and a connection interface control device, such as a processor assembly. The switch may be connected by the drive socket to a storage drive. The connection interface control device may communicate with the blocking driver while the connection interface control device is operatively coupled to the host computer. The connection interface control device may selectively establish communication between the storage drive and the host computer by operating the switch after communication between the connection interface control device and the blocking driver. The blocking driver may prevent the host computer from altering data stored on the connected storage drive.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2019Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: CRU Acquisition Group, LLCInventors: James P. Wiebe, Dean L. Mehler, Randal Barber

Patent number: 10339328Abstract: A computer system for securing computer files from modification may include a processor; at least a first data storage area operatively coupled to the processor; a non-volatile second data storage area; and a control circuit. The non-volatile second data storage area may be physically separate from the at least a first data storage area. The second data storage area may store files that are executable by the processor, including executable files of an operating system configured to save temporary files on the at least a first data storage area. The control circuit may operatively couple the second data storage area to the processor, and may be operable in at least a first mode in which the control circuit is configured to block commands received from the processor and configured to modify the second data storage area from being communicated to the second data storage area.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2015Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: CRU Acquisition Group, LLCInventors: Larry Hampel, Randal Barber
