    Abstract: Provided is a process for preparing a PVDC additive blend in which an additive is blended with PVDC under high shear blending to produce a highly uniform blend in which the additive is homogeneously distributed throughout the PVDC. It has been found that performing high shear blending in multiple successive stages in which the concentration of the additive in the blend is reduced in each successive stage helps in prove the uniformity of the PVDC additive blend. For example, the high shear blending may be carried out in 2 to 6 stages, and in particular, from 2 to 4 stages. Also provided is a PVDC additive blend having a uniform blend of PVDC and an additive, such as a blend of a PVDC copolymer of vinylidene chloride and methyl acrylate and a fluorescing agent, such as 2,2?(2,5-thiophenylendiyl)bis(5-tert-butylbenzoxazole).

    Abstract: A dispenser (5) comprising a body (10) and a removable magazine (11) in which a product pouch (175) is held. The dispenser (5) includes a grip (28) and actuator (30) at an actuator end and a ratcheting drive system disposed on opposite sides of the interior volume. The drive system applies a symmetric pushing force on a squeeze pusher (32) that is slidably disposed in the interior volume. The squeeze pusher (32) applies pressure to the pouch (175) to dispense the product. The magazine (11) and pouch (175) may be ejected once the squeeze pusher (32) is ratcheted to the dispensing end. Once ejected, the squeeze pusher (32) is disengaged from the drive system. A magazine (11) with a new pouch (175) may be inserted into the body (10), which automatically positions the squeeze pusher (32) at the actuating end and reengages the drive system for further dispensing.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing product packages comprises operating first and second feedback control loops where product package weight is averaged and used to determine one of two possible adjustments to change the product fill rate and the volume of the product. The feedback loops operate in one of a plurality of index levels. The first feedback loop seeks to improve performance by making adjustments to the fill rate and volume of the product, while incrementally moving to more stable index levels requiring tighter tolerances and package weight averages based on more product packages. The second feedback loop seeks to preserve stability by making its own adjustments to the fill rate and volume of the product if large product package weight fluctuations are sensed. The second feedback loop can move operation to less stable index levels having wider tolerances and package weight averages based on fewer product packages.
