Abstract: Disclosed are methods for forming and adhering an entrained polymer structure to a substrate. The methods include providing a substrate configured to receive application of a molten entrained polymer. A 3 A molecular sieve entrained polymer in molten form is applied in a predetermined shape, to a surface of the substrate, to form a solidified entrained polymer structure on the substrate. The entrained polymer includes a monolithic material formed of at least a base polymer and 3 A molecular sieve. The surface of the substrate is compatible with the molten entrained polymer so as to thermally bond with it. In this way, the entrained polymer bonds to the substrate and solidifies upon sufficient cooling of the entrained polymer.

Abstract: A device configured to maintain or preserve products sensitive to environmental triggers, such as moisture or oxygen, can include a lid (24) removably attachable to a body (16) of a container (10) in which the sensitive product (23) is stored. An active agent (12) capable of preventing, or at least slowing, exposure of the sensitive product to the environmental trigger is positioned in or under the lid. A utensil (40) configured to shield the active agent can be removably attached to an underside of the lid and positioned to cover the active agent when the utensil is attached to the lid. Upon removal of the utensil, the active agent is unshielded and, upon exposure to the environment, is activated to absorb or consume at least some of the environmental triggers within the container.
Abstract: In one aspect, a moisture scavenging film comprises a moisture barrier layer and a sealant layer comprising an active co-continuous polymer material, the sealant layer disposed on the moisture barrier layer. In another aspect, a method for producing flexible packaging film including a moisture scavenging film includes providing a moisture barrier layer and providing a sealant layer comprising an active co-continuous polymer material. The sealant layer is applied onto the moisture barrier layer while maintaining a co-continuous morphology of the active co-continuous polymer material. In yet another aspect, a packaging article formed from a moisture scavenging film is provided.

Abstract: A blister pack having a backing having a first side and an opposing second side. Each of the first and second side is flat or planar. The blister pack can also include a cover having a first side and an opposing second side. At least a portion of the second side of the cover is adhered to the first side of the backing to form a sealed package for containing product. The cover can include at least one blister. The blister pack can also include an active member positioned within each blister. Each active member can be in the form of a ring with an opening extending therethrough or a depression formed therein.
Abstract: A package for containing liquid-exuding product is formed of a single sheet of film that is folded and sealed at certain locations. The package can include an active member, optionally in the form of absorbent, that is heat staked or otherwise attached to a portion of the sheet of film such that the active member is located on an interior surface of a bottom of the folded and sealed package.

Abstract: A container, e.g., bottle, is formed by a blow molding process. The container includes a base and a sidewall extending from the base. The base and the sidewall define an interior configured to house at least one product. At least one of the sidewall and the base has a barrier layer and a desiccant layer attached to the barrier layer. The barrier layer and the desiccant layer are each blow molded together. The barrier layer is located external relative to the desiccant layer and is made of a plastic material. The desiccant layer is made of a monolithic composition comprising a mixture of a base polymer, a desiccant, and a channeling agent.
Abstract: Disclosed are polymer compositions comprising activated carbon and method of making the polymer compositions that are used for sorption of formaldehyde from air, gas or liquids. The activated carbon is entrained in at least one base polymer with optional channels throughout.

Abstract: A child-resistant container including a container body, a lid, and at least one resilient tab is provided. The lid is pivotable about an axis through a hinge joining the lid to the container body to open and close the container. The resilient tab has a proximal portion fixed to the lid, a distal portion projecting from the lid, and at least one abutment on the distal portion. The abutment on the distal portion of the tab is normally biased into engagement with an abutment on the container body when the lid is in its closed position. The distal portion of the tab is displaceable against the bias to disengage the abutment of the tab from the abutment of the container. Displacement of the tab releases the lid so that it can be pivoted about the hinge to open the container.

Abstract: A moisture-tight, re-sealable container is disclosed having a lid and body. The lid and body have a non-round seal that is substantially moisture tight when the lid is seated on the body, admitting less than 1000 micrograms per day of water to a package. A reinforcement stiffens or reinforces at least a portion of the seal against inward deflection along an axis defined by the minor diameter when the lid is seated on the body. Optionally the reinforcement is at least one spline subdividing the reservoir. A method of making dispensers for objects of varying length to customize particular dispensers to dispense such objects of a particular length is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of over-molding materials includes: providing a first material in a groove in a first portion of a mold such that only a single surface of the first material is exposed to a vacant portion of the mold; providing, via an injection molding process, a second material in a liquid form in the vacant portion of the mold adjacent to, and in engagement with, the first material; and allowing the second material to solidify and become directly coupled to the first material, thus forming a single component. During the method, the entire single surface of the first material is flush with a plane defined by outer surface of the first portion of the mold. The second material has one or both of a greater hardness when solidified than the first material and/or a higher melting temperature than the first material.
