  • Patent number: 8051998
Abstract: In embodiment, the present invention relates to a cap and container assembly comprising at least one selective gas permeable membrane, wherein the assembly is manufactured so that the membrane is an integral part of the assembly and wherein the membrane is composed of a material for controlling conditions of gas concentration in an internal portion of the assembly when the cap is closed. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a method of forming a cap and container assembly comprising at least one selective gas permeable membrane that is integral with the assembly comprising: cutting the membrane to a pre-selected form, wherein the membrane is composed of a material for controlling conditions of gas concentration in an internal portion of the assembly when the cap is closed; placing the membrane into a mold by robotic means; and overmolding the assembly about the membrane to form an assembly wherein the membrane is an integral part of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 7681724
Abstract: A multi-compartment housing with a plurality of cavities forms the main part of the housing. The multi-compartment housing has a side portion that has a smooth, continuous surface and a plurality of individual cavities that are perpendicular to a central axis of the multi-compartment housing. The individual cavities have a plurality of plugs capable of being placed in communication with a corresponding individual cavity. The multi-compartment housing also has a sealing bottom that is capable of being secured onto the multi-compartment housing after the plug array has been placed in position and separated from adjacent plugs from the array so as to close off the of the multi-compartment housing and to isolate each plug from adjacent cavities.

  • Patent number: 7537137
Abstract: A substantially moisture tight container and lid assembly for storing and packaging moisture-sensitive items comprising an assembly with a container and a lid, the lid is attached by a hinge to an upper housing portion of the container, the lid includes a lip seal member that extends downwardly from the lid, the lip seal member is configured to abut at least a portion of the interior side of the container when the lid is in the closed position resulting in a substantially moisture tight seal between the lid and the lid, and the container assembly further comprising a base portion and an upper housing portion, the upper housing portion is capable of being snap-fit into the base portion by employing a lip seal mechanism to form a substantially moisture-tight seal.

  • Publication number: 20080283184
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of attaching an active film (5) onto a flexible package comprising the steps of heating a foil (2); applying an active film (5) to the foil (2); and applying sufficient pressure to the active film (5) and foil (2) combination and sufficient heat to the foil (2) so that active film (5) adheres to the foil (2). In one example, the active film (5) comprises two components and wherein the two components are an active agent and a polymer. In another example, the active agent is an absorbing material.

  • Patent number: RE40941
Abstract: The present invention includes processes and resulting structures for producing a modified polymer having interconnecting channels. The interconnecting channels act as controlled transmission passages through the polymer. A hydrophilic agent is blended into the polymer so that it is distributed within the polymer. In one embodiment, a releasing material is blended into the polymer so that the releasing material is distributed within the product. The product is solidified so that the hydrophilic agent forms passages in the product through which a desired composition is communicable to the releasing material that is entrained within the product. The solidified product may be used to form a desired shaped article such as plug type inserts and liners for closed containers, or it may be formed into a film, sheet, bead or pellet.
