  • Patent number: 8995981
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods in which a controllable device transfers to the remote device, such as to a remote control application (“app”) located on a smartphone, a data structure identifying various functions that can be controlled by a remote device, together with the identity of the signal type that will achieve the desired operation. The remote device, upon accepting input directly from the remote device, can then allow the remote device user to select how controls of the various functions are to be configured and presented to, or otherwise selectively arranged for a user on a user interface of the remote device. In this way, the present disclosure provides a single highly customizable system. Distributors, resellers, and/or manufacturers of various electronic devices will be able utilize the same controllable device instructions, yet visually distinguish its brand name from other solutions using the same instructions.

  • Patent number: 8983416
Abstract: A system and method employ an arbiter-based automatic gain control (AGC) for managing a series of power adjustment circuits, such as amplifiers and/or attenuators. A central arbiter is employed for managing each stage of a series of power adjustment circuits, rather than each stage solely managing itself via a localized control loop. In one embodiment, a system comprises a series of gain stages each having at least one power adjustment circuit, such as at least one attenuator or amplifier. A power detector may be implemented to detect the power level of the output signal of each gain stage, and communicate information about the detected power levels for each stage to a central arbiter. Based at least in part on the received information, the arbiter controls each of the gain stages in a coordinated fashion.

  • Publication number: 20150063589
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and manufacture of beamforming is provided. Adaptive null beamforming is performed for signals from first and second microphones of a two-microphone array. The signals from the microphones are decomposed into subbands. Beamforming weights are evaluated and adaptively updated over time based, at least in part, on the direction of arrival and distance of the target signal. The beamforming weights are applied to the subbands at each updated time interval. Each subband is then combined.

  • Patent number: 8891714
Abstract: A system for synchronizing a receiver of a bit stream to the bit stream include a correlator to remove the PN code modulation and to generate a stream of time sequence values (samples) from the received bits. Multiple accumulators are included, each accumulator corresponding to a different offset from a first time period. The accumulators add a number of values equal to a number of samples in a bit period. Multiple magnitude calculators receive sums from the corresponding accumulators and calculates respective magnitudes. Multiple non-coherent summers are then used to add the magnitudes for each offset in each bit period for all of the received bits. The outputs of the non-coherent summers are analyzed to find the highest value, to identify the location of the bit transition in the bit period.

  • Patent number: 8855917
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein to use a vehicle back-up camera as a cost-effective dead-reckoning sensor in satellite-based vehicle navigation systems. Since the back-up camera may already use a display of the navigation system for display, the data from the back-up camera may be easily obtained and integrated into the navigation system. The data from the camera is received by a navigation receiver wirelessly or through a wired connection. The image is processed to determine the speed, heading, turn-rate of the vehicle to aid the satellite-based navigation system if the satellite signals are inadequate. Thus, enhanced vehicle navigation- performance can be obtained without adding new sensors and/or connecting to a vehicle data bus.

  • Publication number: 20140270241
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and manufacture for speech enhancement in an automotive environment is provided. Signals from first and second microphones of a two-microphone array are decomposed into subbands. At least one signal processing method is performed on the each subband of the decomposed signals to provide a first signal processing output signal and a second signal processing output signal. Subsequently, an acoustic events detection determination is made as to whether the driver, the front passenger, or neither is speaking. An acoustic events detection output signal is provided by selecting the first or second signal processing output signal and by either attenuating the selected signal or not, based on a currently selected operating mode and based on the result of the acoustic events detection determination. Each subband of the acoustics events detection output signal is then combined.

  • Publication number: 20140267602
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards enabling digital cameras to create a 3D view, which can be re-rendered onto any object within a scene, so that it is both in focus and a center of perspective, based on capturing a single set of multiple 2D images of the scene. From capturing a single set of 2D images for a scene, a depth map of the scene may be generated, and used to calculate principal depths, which are then used to capture an image focused at each of the principal depths. A correspondence between a 2D image of the scene and the principal depths are determined that corresponds to a specific principal depth. For different coordinates of the 2D image, different 3D views of the scene are created that are each focused at a principal dept that corresponds to the given coordinate.
