  • Patent number: 10201967
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method of securing a printer. The system includes a printer, having a nontransitory storage medium, configured to: store a password encrypted with a first encryption scheme; re-encrypt the stored password with a second encryption scheme upon a predetermined interval/event; receive a data stream from a host computer; determine whether the received data stream contains the password encrypted with the second encryption scheme; and print a document upon determining that the data stream contains the password encrypted with the second encryption scheme.

  • Patent number: 10007794
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system used to ensure that a printer which is capable of printing security patterns loses its ability to print these patterns if the printer is disconnected from an approved system and, more particularly, to a method and system including a printer containing an encrypted key and password loaded into its memory, where the stored password must match a password present in a data stream sent from the host software application in order to print a requested print job.

  • Patent number: 9604445
Abstract: A system and method for securing a data stream containing data to be embedded in a bar code. The system comprising a printer, having a nontransitory storage medium, configured to: receive a data stream from a host computer, the data stream having at least one trigger identifying at least one portion of data to be embedded in a bar code; identify each trigger in the received data stream; extract each data portion identified by the trigger; and print a secured bar code embedded with the extracted data portions.

  • Publication number: 20130164069
Abstract: A printer that images print media with an adhesive layer backing with an heat absorption substance. The printer contains control board with electronics and firmware to control the printer's various functions. It contains media storage to store the print media, and a platen mechanism to feed the print media. It contains a printhead to image the coloring layer of the media. The printer has a programmable array to activate the adhesive layer of the media once the imaging is complete and feed past the knife blades. If built with a cutter option, the printer contains a knife mechanism which cuts the media once the imaging and adhesive activation is complete.
