Patents Assigned to Custom Packaging Systems, Inc.
  • Patent number: 5104236
Abstract: A reinforced collapsible bag and method of making it from blanks of a flexible woven material which are cut from an elongate web substantially without wasting any material between adjacent blanks with pairs of reinforced strips extending along the side edges and through the central portion of the sides and top and bottom of the bag, thereby reinforcing the bottom, top, sides and corners of the bag. Each blank has a circumferentially continuous central portion and four isosceles triangular portions at each end of the blank. Adjacent sides of adjacent triangular portons are connected together to provide, when the bag is exapnded or filled, generally square ends which are interconnected by generally rectangular side walls. Lifting sstraps can be attached to the reinforced strips along the side edges of the bag. An access opening is provided in an end of the bag by terminating the connections of its triangular portions short of their apexes.

  • Patent number: 5087235
Abstract: A generally cubical collapsible bag with six generally rectangular walls of a flexible plastic material. A spout with an enclosed end is attached to the bag by a continuous heat seal. The spout communicates with the interior of the bag through an opening encircled by the heat seal. Preferably the spout is attached to the inside of the bag and passes through the opening and extends exteriorly of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4817824
Abstract: A collapsible and reusable container for liquid and granular materials which has a cage and a generally cubical bag of a flexible material which collapses when empty. The cage has a bottom which supports the filled bag and upstanding side walls surrounding the bag which can be collapsed when the bag is empty to overlie the bottom of the cage to provide a compact package for storage and shipment prior to refilling and reuse of the container.

  • Patent number: 4798572
Abstract: A collapsible bag and method of making it from blanks of a flexible material which are cut from an elongate web substantially without wasting any material between adjacent blanks. Each blank has a circumferential continuous central portion and four substantially identical isosceles triangular portions at each end of the blank. Adjacent sides of adjacent triangular portions are connected together to provide, when the bag is expanded or filled, generally square ends which are interconnected by generally rectangular side walls. An access opening is provided in an end of the bag by terminating the connections of its triangular portions short of their apexes. Preferably, a spout is received in the access opening and connected to the triangular portions.

  • Patent number: 4781472
Abstract: A large bulk bag with a complimentary liner therein, both of a flexible material, and constructed and arranged so that when empty they can be folded into a generally flat and compact configuration. At least two spaced apart connectors between the bag and liner prevent the liner from being drawn out of the bag by the discharge of its contents while permitting the liner to collapse upon itself without being substantially restrained from doing so by the bag.

  • Patent number: 4781473
Abstract: A large bulk container is provided with a lift strap formed from a strip of flexible material for lifting the bulk container. The bulk container has connecting side panels and either a closed or open top and preferably a generally rectangular shape when filled. The strip forms a loop above the panels and has two ends connected in overlapping relationshp to adjacent side panels. A diagonal line of connection is provided between the two sides of the strap forming the loop and above the side panels to orient the lifting forces generally into one plane and in a generally vertical direction. The lift strap thereby prevents separation from the connected side panels and the spilling of the container contents upon lifting by the strap.

  • Patent number: 4781475
Abstract: A bulk bag having a sidewall reinforced by a safety band. The safety band either encircles the sidewall or is disposed inside the bag. The safety band is located adjacent the bottom of the bag and preferably has a height equal to at least one-fifth of the height of the bag. The reinforced bulk bag is particularly suitable for transportation of hazardous materials.

  • Patent number: 4518106
Abstract: A large bulk bag is provided with a flexible tubular spout at its lower end. A valved casing is detachably suspended from the lower end of the bag beneath and in alignment with the bag's spout. The bag spout, when opened, is designed to extend into the valved casing and, thus, permit the contents of the bag to be discharged in desired metered amounts.

  • Patent number: 4481006
Abstract: A length of woven plastic fabric in tubular form is advanced from a source of supply while telescoped over a separator plate which maintains the two plies of the tubular stock in separated relation. A heated knife blade aligned vertically with the downstream end of the separator plate is reciprocated vertically to sever the tube stock into bag blanks. The severed edges on the upstream side of the heated knife remain separated rather than being heat sealed together by the heated blade. The severed blank is impaled on needles mounted on an endless chain which conveys the blanks laterally through a sewing machine and/or a sealing mechanism for securely closing one end of the blanks. Thereafter successive blanks are conveyed to a stacking device which disengages the blanks from the needle chain and stacks them horizontally one upon another.
