  • Patent number: 8070658
Abstract: Exercise apparatus and method with selectively variable stabilization enabling a user to progressively increase his/her core body muscular strength. In various embodiments, the exercise apparatus includes a resistance cabling system providing a user defined line of motion, and a partial stabilizer pad being adjustably positionable offset from the line of motion, wherein the user's core body is positionable against the pad and required to resist the torque created by the offset. The user can progressively increase the distance between the line of motion and partial stabilizer pad, in order to progressively increase the force which the user's core body must resist to maintain an upright stature. In this way, the user can progressively, over time, increase his or her core body strength.

  • Publication number: 20100204021
Abstract: A lower torso exercise machine for a user having a frame; a user support structure mounted to the frame, the user support structure including a seat and a pelvic stabilizing pad, the seat being mounted to the frame below and at an angle oblique to the pelvic stabilizing pad; and a footrest attached to the frame in front of the user support structure for pushing against by the user's feet, the seat and the stabilizing pad being adjustably positionable relative to the footrest such that the user can selectively adjust the force of the user's pushing against the footrest to enable the user to push the user's pelvis into the stabilizing pad to a degree that immobilizes the user's pelvis.

  • Patent number: 7727128
Abstract: A leg press exercise machine that provides translational and rotational motion of the user support structure by translating the user support structure along two intersecting non-orthogonal linear paths. A front portion of the user support structure travels along an inclining linear path and a rear portion of the user support structure travels along a declining linear path. The translation of the user support structure along the inclining and declining linear paths results in the user support structure exhibiting a rational motion, defining an arcuate path.

  • Patent number: 7717831
Abstract: The subject invention provides an exercise machine for exercising the lower torso. As described herein, the exercise machine includes a stabilizer pad, which effectively immobilizes the user's lower body to maintain proper pelvic positioning during execution of the exercise. The stabilizer pad can be part of a user support structure having a seat surface, a pelvic stabilizer pad and a footrest. The footrest is positioned so the user can apply a force using the leg muscles to push the pelvis into the pelvic stabilization pad. The spatial arrangement of the stabilization assembly which comprises: pelvic stabilizer pad, seat, and footrest combination effectively immobilize the user's pelvic area, preventing it from rotating in either the anterior or posterior direction.
