    Abstract: The invention includes a method of reducing the microbial population on a textile in a washing machine. The washing machine has an outer shell for containing fluids and an internal assembly for containing textiles. The method includes introducing a wash liquor into the internal assembly, thus contacting the textile with the wash liquor and wetting the textile. The wash liquor is then removed from the internal assembly and the outer shell at a first point. At a second point, a combination of ozone gas, oxygen and/or oxygen enriched air is mixed into the wash liquor being removed from the outer shell to form an ozonated wash liquor. This ozonated wash liquor is re-introduced into the outer shell and internal assembly thus contacting the textile with the ozonated wash liquor for a period of time.

    Abstract: A cold water washing formula and a method of reducing the soil load on a textile by introducing the textile and cold water into an internal assembly within a washing machine. The method includes a first break wash wherein the textile, water, and a solvent are introduced into the washing machine to initiate soil removal. In a second break wash, a surfactant and an alkali are added to the first break wash to continue the washing cycle. The combined first and second break washes are drained from the internal assembly and the textile is rinsed with water. After draining the first rinse from the internal assembly, a second rinse including ozonated water and an acid is introduced into the internal assembly. The second rinse is drained from the internal assembly and a third rinse, which includes ozonated water, is introduced into the internal assembly to rinse the textile.

    Abstract: A laundry ozone injection system includes an ozone generator connected to an ozone distribution manifold having a plurality of manifold outlets connected through ozone valves to ozone injectors associated with washing machines of a laundry plant. Each washer has water cycled therefrom by a pump, through the ozone injector, and back to the washer chamber. A washer cycle controller of each washer is interfaced to a local interface module along with a pump motor. The local interface modules are interfaced to an ozone distribution controller or main controller which is also interfaced to the ozone valves. The current washer cycle of each machine is detected by its local interface module and communicated to the main controller which controls the rate of ozone production of the ozone generator, the activation of the pump motor, and the opening of the ozone valve of a washer in accordance with the currently detected washer cycle to thereby control the delivery of ozone to the washer.
