The tag protector comprises a base shaped generally as the unfolded tag. The base has an inside face with a front half and a back half so that the tag, when in its unfolded position, can overlie the front and back halves of the base, respectively. The protector further comprises a fold section dividing the front and back halves of the base so that the front and back halves of the base can be folded into an overlapping position when the base is folded along the fold section.
