Abstract: A re-usable experimentation crucible comprises a cylindrical side wall, a base, an opening, an internal support surface located adjacent and directed towards the opening, a removable stopper supported and centered on the support surface, and an annular groove located in the side wall between said support surface and the opening. A ring of plastic material may be inserted between the side wall and the stopper and driven by extrusion in the direction of the bottom of the crucible. This causes the ring to deform and fill the annular groove and ensure sealed closure of the crucible.

Abstract: A cooling plate for circulating fluid for cooling the walls of shaft furnaces and particularly blast furnaces, and being placed between the refractory material to be cooled and the facing of the furnace to be protected and comprising a flat thin-walled panel made of cast steel and forming a tightly sealed enclosure through which passes an independent stream of cooling fluid, this enclosure being divided up into tubular passages with the aid of partitions which delimit a single circulatory path for the cooling medium which circulates in a vertical upward sinusoidal movement, that face of the plate which faces the interior of the blast furnace to be protected being lined with a high-strength refractory material.
Abstract: Building frame elongate structural elements are provided having at least cavity which in transverse cross section has a mouth permitting access to said cavity, defined by a pair of opposed flanges which have first portions extending toward each other across the mouth and second portions extending inwardly of the cavity from said first portions and terminating at free edges so as to leave to each side of the mouth an undercut space which is behind the first portion and laterally outside the second portion, the said second portions of the flanges being deformable. Fixing members for combining said structural elements are also provided. The fixing members and structural elements are useful in making building frames from a plurality of the structural elements.

Abstract: Processes for the separation of a potassium salt of a perfluoroalkanoic acid having at least 1 and at most 12 carbon atoms per molecule or a mixture of potassium salts of a homologous mixture of the said perfluoroalkanoic acids from an aqueous solution that also contains a substantial proportion of one or more watersoluble salts of inorganic acids which process comprises extracting at room temperature the said aqueous solution with an organic solvent which is at least partially miscible with water and in which potassium salts of the said perfluoroalkanoic acids are soluble, the said organic solvent being selected from the group consisting of alkanols having at least 3 and at most 5 carbon atoms per molecule, ketones having at least 3 and at most 7 carbon atoms per molecule, N,N-dimethylformamide and dimethyl sulfoxide, and subsequently recovering the potassium salt of the perfluoroalkanoic acid or mixture of potassium salts of the homologous mixture of perfluoroalkanoic acids.

Abstract: Process and apparatus for removing solid matter from coal tar recovered f coal distillation comprising the steps of centrifuging the tar in order to produce a liquid phase consisting of tar which is substantially free of residual solids and a solid phase consisting of solid matter and tar, and mixing the solid phase with a solid material comprising carbon.
Abstract: A cooling plate for circulating fluid for cooling the walls of shaft furnaces and particularly blast furnaces, the plate being placed between the refractory material to be cooled and the facing of the furnace to be protected. The cooling plate includes a frame formed by two bent tubular elements welded at their ends to separator plates, an independent stream of cooling fluid passing through each tubular element; and a flat hollow central element consisting of an inner double-walled panel welded to the inner periphery of the frame, this inner panel forming an enclosure through which passes an independent stream of the cooling fluid.
Abstract: Dispensing apparatus for rolled-up strips of wound sheet material with said sheet material so positioned as to be unwound by means of an abutting rotatable and controllable drum including a cutting device for said stripped material.
