  • Patent number: 4589464
Abstract: A sliding door construction in which two sliding door panels are adapted to be moved into open position or into a position where one panel is in open or partially open position and the other panel is in closed position and wherein one of the juxtaposed stile members of the door panels is provided with a movable pivoted insect barrier blade extending the length of the stile member and in operative insect barrier position lying normal to the plane of the door panels and having a width for virtually closing the space between the stile and the surface of the other door panel. In non-operative position of the barrier blade, the blade lies parallel to the plane of the door panels. The barrier blade has an actuator rib engageable by an actuator flange carried by the stile of the other door panel for pivotally moving the blade into the said normal position to the planes of the door panels and to parallel position of the door panels.

  • Patent number: 4512598
Abstract: A quickly releasable and attachable latch bracket for latch means provided in vehicle sunroof constructions adapted to be completely removed from a sunroof opening in a vehicle wall. In removal of a sunroof from the opening, the latching mechanism remains connected to latch brackets and the latch brackets are provided a construction for quick release thereof from the frame member defining the sunroof opening whereby the periphery of the opening is unobstructed by any sunroof hardware. A latch bracket means having a construction for engagement with cooperable slots and recesses on a frame member and releasable retainer pins carried on pivotally mounted release levers wherein the retainer pins are unstressed by sunroof loads. A method for quickly releasing such a latch bracket from a frame member in a sunroof construction.

  • Patent number: 4345587
Abstract: A solar energy collector means comprising a rectangular frame, a back wall of thin sheet material bonded and sealed at its margins to said frame, a light transmitting plate bonded and sealed to said frame in spaced relation to said back wall to provide a rigid structure, a solar energy absorber and coil means located between said back wall and said plate, a blanket of insulating material between said absorber coil assembly and said back wall, and means for laterally and longitudinally positioning said solar energy absorber and coil means with respect to said frame without metal-to-metal contact between said frame, back wall, and said absorber means, and whereby said solar absorber and coil means is limitedly floatable on said insulating blanket and adapted to expand and contract without stressing said frame. A solar collector provided with removable breathing desiccant means supported within said frame on said absorber means.

  • Patent number: 4186525
Abstract: A readily removable closure panel for an opening in a roof or wall of a vehicle and including a quick release hinge means for permitting partial opening of the panel and for rapid disengagement and removal of the panel from the roof. An adjustable hinge construction for a panel wherein the hinge construction includes a resilient yieldable hinge member which provides a hinge edge for releasable pivotal engagement with a cooperable frame portion of a frame member defining an opening in the roof. The hinge edge engagement provides a hinge axis beneath or interiorly of the panel margin and the hinge edge is adjustably spaced therefrom for causing the panel edge margin to press against a resilient gasket on the frame member in both closed and partially opened position of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4120524
Abstract: A device for opening, closing, and latching a roof vent closure member for vehicles and including an upper latch member pivotally connected to the closure member, a lower latch member pivotally connected to the frame defining the opening in the roof, said upper and lower latch members being pivotally interconnected and a bar connected to said upper latch member in offset relation to its pivotal connection to the lower latch member for actuating the device. The pivotal connections of the latch members are arranged to provide a toggle or off center relationship in closed position of the closure member. The latch members and pivotal connections thereof are so arranged to permit the crossbar to be positioned below and outwardly of the frame defining the roof opening to provide headroom, non-obstructed vision, and aesthetic appearance.
