  • Patent number: 5575041
Abstract: A resiliently yieldable tail stock device for use in a numerically controlled lathe comprises a body slidable along a bed toward and away from a spindle, the slidable body having a bore and a passage hole each formed therethrough in an axial alignment with the spindle. Removably received within the bore of the slidable body is a center socket movable between an extended position and a retracted position and having a tapering blind bore open at its front end. The center socket carries a live center that has a pointed front end engageable with a workpiece and a tapering rear shank fitted into the tapering bore. Fixedly secured to the center socket is an elongate rod carrying a dog at its distal end. A compression spring is used to resiliently bias the center socket toward the extended position. A combination of electric motor and lead screw serves to cause a linear reciprocating movement of the slidable body. The electric motor is deenergized as the dog reaches a rearmost position just above a proximity switch.

  • Patent number: 4962821
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a discrete drive system for a skid steer loader comprising a pair of independent transmission cases interconnected by a plate member at a spaced relationship. The transmission cases enclose chain and sprocket drives for the loader and have the axle housings outwardly extending from the outer side walls thereof. A pair of gear reduction means are mounted on the inner side walls of the transmission cases to provide a drive power to the front and rear stub axles at reduced speeds. The gear reduction means incorporates an improved brake device including a circular drum secured to the reduction gear, a flexible band wound around the drum and an eccentric cam shaft for actuation of the brake device. Coupled to the gear reduction means are a pair of hydrostatic motors having output shaft extending into the outer casings of the reduction means. • Patent number: 4745280
Abstract: An apparatus for accurately measuring laser beam intensity profiles so as to permit adjusting the oscillation mode of the laser to achieve good workability of the beam. The beam from a CO.sub.2 laser generator is attenuated and applied to an infrared sensor which produces an electrical analog signal representing the beam intensity. The sensed signal is amplified and applied via an A/D converter and an interface to a computer. The computer controls a scanner which scans successive scanning lines of the laser beam profile across the sensor. The computer also produces a visual image of the laser beam intensity profile from the sensor signal. An operator veiwing such image can make an accurate and convenient measurement of the laser beam intensity profile, thereby providing a basis for quantitative analysis in quality inspection of workpieces subjected to the laser beam.

  • Patent number: 4691106
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting defects in a laser mirror by using a laser beam in order to detect any possible changes in reflectivity over the surface of the mirror. A laser beam is split by a beam splitter into one portion for scanning the mirror to be inspected and which is reflected therefrom to produce a reflection signal, the remaining portion of the beam providing a reference signal. A computer receives both signals and on the basis of comparison thereof determines the condition of the mirror because there will be incorrect reflection of the laser beam from any region of the mirror which is defective.
