Patent number: 11118983Abstract: In one aspect, a temperature sensing assembly for measuring temperature of a surface of a structure includes a thermocouple device and a docking device. The thermocouple device includes a temperature sensing junction point disposed within an elongate sheath to measure the temperature of the surface of the structure at a desired location. The thermocouple device further comprises a contact portion configured to contact the surface of the structure. The docking device has a bottom surface to attach to the surface of the structure adjacent the desired location. A line extends through the center of the sheath and the sheath has a cross-sectional area in a plane perpendicular to the line. The contact portion is configured such that, when the docking device is coupled to the surface, an area of contact between the contact portion and the surface of the structure is greater than the cross-sectional area of the sheath.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2019Date of Patent: September 14, 2021Assignee: Daily Thermetrics Corp.Inventors: Carlos Alvarado, Raymond B. Litteaur, Larry Welch

Publication number: 20200256737Abstract: A temperature sensing assembly includes first and second temperature sensors disposed within an elongate mineral insulated conductive sheath. A junction point of the first temperature sensor is electrically connected to the conductive sheath. The second temperature sensor is electrically isolated from the conductive sheath. Measurements obtained from the electrically isolated temperature sensor can be used to test insulation resistance of the assembly or temperature indications from the electrically isolated temperature sensor can be compared to measurements taken from the electrically connected junction point to take a variety of corrective actions during use of the temperature sensing assembly, such as adjusting the installation of the assembly or applying correction factors to measurements obtained from one of the temperature sensors.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2020Publication date: August 13, 2020Applicant: Daily Instruments d/b/a Daily Thermetrics Corp.Inventors: Raymond B. Publication number: 20140376594Abstract: A temperature sensing assembly for measuring the temperature of a surface of a structure includes a thermocouple device having a sheath containing a pair of conductors of dissimilar materials connected at a junction point to provide indications of temperature. The assembly further includes a docking device with a recess formed in a top surface to receive a portion of the sheath that is proximate the junction point. The bottom surface of the docking device is attached to the surface of the structure. The recess extends through the bottom surface of the docking device so that when the thermocouple device is positioned in the recess, the junction point is adjacent the surface of the tube. A heat shield can be attached to the docking device to shield the sheath proximate the junction point from direct and radiant heat sources.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2014Publication date: December 25, 2014Applicant: Daily Instruments d/b/a Daily Thermetrics Corp.Inventors: Jeffrey N.
