  • Patent number: 4773225
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the load-dependent control of a turbocharger which is arranged in an internal combustion engine, a turbocharger includes an adjustable turbine guide apparatus which is adapted to be moved by way of an adjusting drive in the direction closing position or in the direction opening position. In order to be able to keep the response time of the turbocharger minimal during positive load changes with an optimum fuel consumption, the turbine guide apparatus is initially guided along a first predetermined characteristic curve in the direction closing position and subsequently in dependence on the charging pressure increase conditioned on the load increase according to a second predetermined characteristic curve again in the opening direction.

  • Patent number: 4772135
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for the impellers of the compressor and the turbine of an exhaust gas turbocharger that are arranged next to one another on a shaft end of a rotor shaft. The rotor shaft, via two roller bearings, is supported in the compressor housing. In order to achieve a vibration-damped bearing, at least one roller bearing is supported in the compressor housing while either enclosing a gap-shaped damping space as the hydraulic cushion or a radially acting spring body.

  • Patent number: 4771942
Abstract: In order to bring about, in the case of a crossflow heat exchanger with two heating sections which can be individually regulated through the heat transfer medium, a pipe routing adapted to the particular installation conditions in a motor vehicle, with minimum possible connections, the partition wall subdividing a central deflection header is provided with perforations further dividing both regions of the deviation zone for the heat transfer medium, for a purposeful routing of the heat transfer medium through integrated flow and return tubes from an outer deflection header to the respective opposite heating section. Only one flow pipe is connected to an outer deflection header and the two return pipes lead away from the same outer deflection header mutually separately for the heat transfer medium.

  • Patent number: 4770543
Abstract: A device in a motor vehicle for indicating the outside temperature has a speed sensor in addition to an outside-temperature sensor. The device has a memory for storing a detected temperature when a speed signal drops below a threshold value. The current temperature is then displayed if it is less than the stored detected temperature plus a pre-determined amount; otherwise, the stored detected temperature is displayed. When the vehicle speed rises above a second threshold value, a delay time determiner determines the delay time dependent on the vehicle speed, and a time delay is activated. The time delay causes the indicator to display the current temperature upon expiration of a period of time equal to the delay time following the activation of the time delay.

  • Patent number: 4770064
Abstract: A device is provided for reducing the engine torque when shifting a speed-change gear transmission connected downstream of an internal combustion engine. A final engine torque control element is connected to a control device which cause the final control element to reduce the engine torque dependent on certain operating conditions dictated by speed and load of the internal combustion engine and upon the occurrence of a switching signal, with interposition of at least one timing element. To obtain precise timing between shifting and engine intervention, the arrangement is made such that the switching signal is triggered synchronously to the torque reversal at a lockable reaction gear element of a planetary wheel gear involved in the shifting so as to cause the final control element to reduce the engine torque without any time delay.
