  • Publication number: 20130011313
Abstract: An exhaust gas aftertreatment installment and associated exhaust gas aftertreatment method utilizes a nitrogen oxide storage catalytic converter and an SCR catalytic converter. A particulate filter is provided upstream of the nitrogen oxide storage catalytic converter or between the latter and the SCR catalytic converter or downstream of the SCR catalytic converter. The time of regeneration operating phases of the nitrogen oxide storage catalytic converter can be determined as a function of the nitrogen oxide content of the exhaust gas downstream of the nitrogen oxide storage catalytic converter or of the SCR catalytic converter and/or as a function of the ammonia loading of the latter. Moreover, a desired ammonia generation quantity can be determined for a respective regeneration operating phase. The installation and method are adopted for use for motor vehicle internal combustion engines and other engines which are operated predominantly in lean-burn mode.

  • Patent number: 7659017
Abstract: For various reasons, it can be desirable to subject fuel cells to drying procedures. In solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells for instance, drying may be carried out prior to storing at below freezing temperatures, or to recover cell performance lost following freeze/thaw events. An improved drying method involves drying the cell uniformly throughout. That is, the drying power over the length of the fuel cell is adjusted to be essentially uniform. This can be accomplished by using an appropriate set of operating conditions. The improved drying method can improve the lifetime of the fuel cell.

  • Publication number: 20090200718
Abstract: In a spring shock absorber for a motor vehicle, with a first body part and a second body part, the first body part forms a first changeable volume with the second body part by way of a first rolling bellows, and the second body part forms a second changeable volume with a roll-off piston connected to the first body part by way of a second rolling bellows. The two rolling bellows are arranged in such a way that they are guided in the radial direction during a rolling motion by lateral contours of the two body parts and the roll-off piston. The two volumes are connected to one another via a throttle element and form a hermetically closed two-volume system with respect to a deflection of the spring shock absorber. The roll-off piston is guided through the second body part in a longitudinally displaceable manner by means of a sealing element.
