  • Patent number: 7586402
Abstract: The opening of vehicle doors often leads to collisions with stationary obstacles that are not visible to the occupants or with moving obstacles that approach the vehicle without being noticed. Thus to avoid collisions when vehicle doors are opened, the aim of the invention is to take any modifications to the environmental situation of the vehicle as a result of a movement of the vehicle and the detected objects into consideration. This allows a collision of the vehicle doors with the objects to be reliably avoided. To achieve this, in a first step the probable trajectory of a vehicle is determined. In an additional step, the objects in the vicinity of the vehicle are detected and probable trajectories of said detected objects are determined. Respective probability ranges are then defined both for the vehicle and the pivoting zone of the vehicle doors and for the detected objects.

  • Patent number: 7584735
Abstract: In a process for chip-forming machining of thermally sprayed cylinder barrels of a cylinder crankcase, a cylinder crankcase is cast, those surfaces of the subsequent cylinder barrels which are to be thermally coated are roughened, the cylinder barrels are coated by a thermal spraying process, and the cylinder barrels are remachined to final dimensions. Machining of an insertion bevel and/or an end bevel and/or the cylinder head sealing surface and/or the crankshaft space and/or a cylinder bore is carried out in a chip-forming manner, and a respective chip-forming tool is guided so that the respective cutting edges penetrate into the material which is to be removed from the outside.

  • Publication number: 20090218780
Abstract: A vehicle independent suspension for a double-wishbone high link axle has on each wheel side, a wheel carrier which is mounted by at least one lower link and at least one upper link in the form of a transverse or diagonal link, on an assembly frame that is fastened to the vehicle frame. The assembly frame comprises two longitudinal members and two cross members that are fixedly connected in a force-fitting or materially joined fashion to the longitudinal members. The rear cross member is extended upward forming a link carrier for the upper link or mounting the link carrier in a dimensionally rigid manner by a support element. For each longitudinal member, a further link carrier for the upper link is arranged between the cross members; and said further link carrier engages in each case around the closest longitudinal member in a form-fitting or force-fitting or materially joined fashion.

  • Patent number: 7582143
Abstract: A moisture exchange module includes a bundle of moisture-permeable hollow fiber membranes. It is provided with a feedline for supplying a gas stream that flows through the hollow fiber membranes in an inner flow. According to the present invention, a separating device for separating out liquid particles from the gas flow are provided in the region between the feedline and the bundle of hollow fiber membranes. The separating device may have the form of a groove and are arranged in such a way that the gas flow is guided in such a manner that the centrifugal force assists movement of the liquid particles towards the separating device. The moisture exchange module preferably forms part of a fuel cell system to humidify feed air for the fuel cell system.

  • Patent number: 7581521
Abstract: A driving authorization system comprises an electronic immobilizer function which is coupled to a rotary shaft sensor. The rotary shaft sensor senses the position and/or rotational speed of the rotary shaft by means of a pickup wheel arranged on a rotary shaft, and transmits that information to a vehicle control unit which enables the electronic immobilizer function. According to the invention, the pickup wheel comprises a predefined number of teeth which are arranged distributed along the circumference of the pickup wheel according to a code, and an encoded rotational speed signal which is picked up by the rotary shaft sensor and can be decoded by the vehicle control unit. The vehicle control unit enables the immobilizer function only after successful decoding of the encoded rotational speed signal. A synchronization time for detecting a specific position of the rotary shaft is part of the encoded rotational speed signal.
