Patent number: 4706459Abstract: In a hydraulic dual-circuit brake system for motor vehicles, especially high-powered heavy passenger cars, in which the front wheel brakes combined in a front-axle brake circuit are exposed to higher thermal loads than the rearward brakes, brake fluid is conveyed by means of a feed pump to the outlet-pressure space for cooling the front wheel brakes following a braking phase. Circulated brake fluid flows from the master cylinder outlet pressure space assigned to the front-axle circuit, to the wheel brake cylinders, to an additional functional space of the primary piston in the master cylinder, and back to the supply vessel. The circulating fluid pump is controlled by a timing relay which is tripped by the brake-light switch and remains energized for a predetermined time interval to allow sufficient cooling by fluid circulation.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1984Date of Patent: November 17, 1987Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventor: Manfred Burckhardt

Patent number: 4704863Abstract: An exhaust gas filter for Diesel engines that consists of a monolithic filter block made of a porous ceramic material having a plurality of ducts extending in the flow direction of the exhaust gases, said ducts alternately being closed by plugs in order to force the passage of gas through the duct walls into adjacent ducts. In the case of this exhaust gas filter, the filter block is divided into zones having a decreasing porosity in the flow direction of the gases, and the plugs which force the passage of the gas through the duct walls are each arranged in the area of the zone border. Filters are preferred that have two to four zones of decreasing porosity. The exhaust gas filters are manufactured in that a filter blank that has the largest desired porosity is immersed in a solution or suspension of a porosity-reducing agent up to the desired zone border and is subsequently dried and is possibly burnt. Preferred agents for reducing the porosity are water glass solutions or cordierite suspensions.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1985Date of Patent: November 10, 1987Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Joerg Abthoff, Hans-Dieter Schuster, Gunter Loose, Bernhard Jokl

Patent number: 4705354Abstract: A method wherein two light fluxes I.sub.1 and I.sub.2, spectrally encoded by interspersing or alternating line frequency spectra, are transmitted through an optical fiber from a transducer to an evaluation unit which generates an indication signal in relation to the ratio of the optical power of the two light fluxes. Both light fluxes I.sub.1 and I.sub.2 are generated with distinctly different narrow-bandline structures of the spectral distribution of their optical powers with the spectral separation of adjacent lines of the two line fluxes being greater than the linewidth of these lines. The optical power of the spectrally interposed light fluxes I.sub.1 and I.sub.2 are measured individually after spectral separation by filters which are selected to the specific distribution of the light fluxes I.sub.1 and I.sub.2.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1985Date of Patent: November 10, 1987Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventor: Reinhard Ulrich

Patent number: 4703947Abstract: This invention relates to an arrangement of a torsion bar stabilizer at a drivable motor vehicle axle with independent wheel suspensions, the wheels of which being guided by means of a plurality of individual links.By means of this arrangement, a housing of the torsion bar stabilizer between the axle and the vehicle body is made to require little space in upward direction. The assignment of the stabilizer legs to the wheel carriers also do not force a limitation of the rim of tire width of the vehicle wheels. According to the invention, this is achieved by the fact that the legs of a U-shaped torsion bar stabilizer are in each case arranged between a camber strut and the axle shaft of the wheel suspensions. Thus the stabilizer legs are located inside the wheel suspensions or behind their wheel carriers and no longer project over the same in an upward direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1986Date of Patent: November 3, 1987Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Peter Tattermusch, Ulrich Zech
