Patent number: 8378520Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for energy management, by means of which significant fluctuations in the power consumption in the on-board electrical system are reduced, in particular, current consumption peaks arising due to a very high start-up current of electrical actuators and solenoid valves, are more evenly distributed over time. To achieve this, the method for energy management according to the invention operates predictively, i.e. it determines both the energy available in the subsequent time interval and the energy required on the basis of activation requests, and selects consumers to be activated according to their priority and a prevailing tolerance time within which a consumer must be activated following the submission of its activation request. The tolerance time is thereby continuously adapted.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2004Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: Daimlerchrysler AGInventors: Ottmar Gehring, Harro Heilmann, Andreas Schwarzhaupt, Erik Sieglin, Gernot Spiegelberg, Wolfgang Stahl, Armin Sulzmann

Patent number: 7856299Abstract: The solution is arrived at with a computer-based diagnostic tester which can exchange information with the control devices installed in the motor vehicle using a diagnostic program via a diagnostic interface and via data lines. The motor vehicle-mounted control devices have program routines for self-diagnostics of the control devices and are capable of storing identified faults in the form of fault codes in reserved memory areas. The diagnostic program which is implemented in the diagnostic tester reads the fault codes out from the reserved memory areas, interprets the fault codes and displays them on a display together with the interpretations. In order to check to what extent repairs which have been performed have been successfully concluded, status polling is carried out using the diagnostic program implemented in the diagnostic tester. During this status polling, the status information of all the fault codes known in the system is interrogated and evaluated.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2005Date of Patent: December 21, 2010Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Bernhard Fink, Peter Irkes, Markus Scholz, Klaus Weiss

Patent number: 7586933Abstract: The invention concerns a network comprising an interconnecting network and several network nodes that are coupled to said interconnecting network and are designed to adapt their local communication time schedule to the communication time schedule of at least one other network mode, prior to being integrated as active network nodes. A network node to be integrated checks the activity of other network nodes and if no activity is identified, sends out positional messages for other network nodes, said message being fixed by predetermination in its communication time schedule. If a network node cannot be integrated as a reference node, it can only be integrated as an active node if it adapts its local communication time schedule to that of the reference node after receiving positional messages and if a check as to whether its own communication time schedule agrees with the communication time schedules of at least some of the active network nodes proves positive.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2003Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignees: Robert Bosch GmbH, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, DaimlerChrysler AG, Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., GM Global Technology Operations, Inc., NXP B.V., DECOMSYS—Dependable Computer Systems, Hardware und Software Entwicklung GmbHInventors: Ing Ralf Belschner, Bernd Hedenetz, Christopher Temple, Anton Schedl, Josef Berwanger, Martin Peller, Thomas Führer, Arnold Millsap, Thomas Forest, Gregor Pokorny, Peter Fuhrmann
