  • Publication number: 20090027179
Abstract: A device for assisting in handling a vehicle having a sensing system for sensing the surroundings of the vehicle, a processing unit for processing the data collected by the sensing system, and a visual display device for displaying the collected data. In order to provide an auxiliary device for handling a vehicle with a sensing system, a processing unit and a visual display unit which makes the vehicle more comfortable to handle and reliably prevents collisions with obstacles, it is proposed that the sensing system senses both the surroundings of the vehicle and the vehicle itself and said vehicle is represented with the surroundings on the display device, it being possible to add additional lines for supporting the handling of the vehicle to the display device.

  • Patent number: 7021057
Abstract: In an exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine comprising a radial flow exhaust gas turbine and a compressor, which is connected to the turbine via a shaft, the turbine having a radial inflow duct and a radial inlet flow passage, which leads to the turbine wheel and in which a variable geometry vane structure for changing the cross-section of the radial inlet flow passage is supported between two support walls fixed to the turbine casing, one of the support walls projects into the inflow duct, in such a manner that the rear side of this support wall is spaced from the inner wall of the inflow duct wall so that the exhaust gas within the inflow duct is in contact also with the rear side of this support wall.

  • Patent number: 6682435
Abstract: A tripod joints includes a joint outer part and a joint inner part. The joint inner part has a tripod star with ball pins, which transmits a drive torque from the joint inner part to the joint outer part via a pressure element and via rolling bodies which are arranged between the joint outer part and a running surface of the pressure element. The running surface of the pressure element is curved in the rolling direction of the rolling bodies. The force may be distributed more uniformly between the rolling bodies when large drive torques are intended to be transmitted. The tripod joint may be suitable for the displaceable and pivotable driving connection of two shaft ends, e.g., in conjunction with drive trains or half shafts of motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6604774
Abstract: A cover device for a folding top compartment of a vehicle with a lowerable roof structure. It being possible to pivot the roof structure into the folding top compartment which is arranged behind a rear region in a back part of the vehicle bodywork and which can be closed with a folding top compartment lid. A cover unit closes, with a front cover part and a rear cover part, a free space which is formed between the closed folding top compartment lid and the rear region. The rear cover part is mounted in a pivotably adjustable fashion on the front cover part, and can be adjusted between an active position, in which the rear cover part closes a gap between the front cover part and the folding top compartment lid, and a passive position, in which the rear cover part clears the gap.

  • Patent number: 6499347
Abstract: In the case of vehicle wheels the single-phase wobble may not exceed a certain maximum value if the vehicle is to satisfy certain demands of comfort. However, in this case it is of little use to measure the wobble of the vehicle brake disc and that of the vehicle hub carrying the said brake disc individually, because this is unable to give any statement concerning the wobble of the entire constructional unit. With the aid of the method according to the invention, the wobble component, due to a wheel hub, of the constructional unit mentioned can be ascertained exactly if the precise data of the very precisely produced master brake disc, which is used in the measurement instead of the vehicle brake disc, is known. The method can only be carried out successfully using the master brake disc mentioned.

  • Patent number: 6298750
Abstract: Steering wheel having a steering wheel rim which is hollow at least in some places and has ventilation openings for stabilizing the temperature of the steering rim. In the region of the at least one cavity, the steering wheel rim has a holder for fixing a fan module which sucks in environmental air and passes it into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6266005
Abstract: For a radar device arranged above a reflecting surface, a method is suggested for estimating the height of an object above the surface. This method does not require a refined angle resolution for the radar antenna and is based solely on the processing of signals. The invention makes use of the appearance of an interference pattern for the radiation field of the radar antenna, which normally is viewed as a disadvantage, by evaluating the intensity modulation of a signal received from an object moving in radial direction to the radar device within the surveillance range. Together with the measured distance to the object, this is used to estimate a value for the height of the object above the road surface.

  • Patent number: 6152642
Abstract: In a connection between a first component having a U-shaped fork with two essentially parallel spaced legs having recesses formed therein and a second component having a portion disposed between the legs and a bolt extending into the recesses, the ends of the bolt are engaged in the recesses by spring clamps which hold the bolt in firm contact with wall portions of the recesses so as to provide for a play-free pivot connection between the two components.

  • Patent number: 6053142
Abstract: In a crankcase of an internal combustion engine with lower and upper crankcase parts joined together along a separation plane extending through the axis of crankshaft bearings mounted in the transverse walls of the crankcase, the upper crankcase part has side walls with cut-outs formed therein and a cup-shaped member is disposed within the crank chamber formed between the transverse walls of the crankcase to cover the cut-outs. The cup-shaped member has an opening adjacent the respective cylinder of a cylinder block extending from the upper crankcase for accommodating a connecting rod extending between the crankshaft and a piston in the respective cylinder of the cylinder block.
