Abstract: Disclosed is a golf club head which comprises: a head body constituted by a core material coated with a layer of fiber-reinforced resin, such as carbon-fiber-reinforced resin, glass-fiber-reinforced resin, or the like; and a sole plate attached to a sole portion of the head body, the sole plate having a protrusion being buried in the head body and projecting outward beyond a peripheral edge of the sole plate; whereby the protrusion may bite into the head body even if a large force is exerted to a head by a shock at the time of a shot so that the sole plate is positively prevented from peeling off from the head body, and the weight of the protrusion portion is added to the periphery of the head body to thereby make the moment of inertia of the head high.

Abstract: A head for a gold club, comprises: a metal body including a hosel and a sole which are formed integrally with each other; a filling member provided on the sole; and a fiber-reinforced resin coating the metal body and the filling member except the sole, wherein the metal body is integrally formed with a support portion extending from the ankle part of the metal body toward the toe part thereof and supporting the filling member at a rear thereof.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a golf club head and a method of making the same. The golf club head has a reinforced fiber member integrally formed with metal or resin which forms a metal or resin layer positioned in a front face. In the method for making the golf club head of the present invention, the reinforced fiber member is disposed on the front face side of the insert core, then under the state that the reinforced fiber member is pressed to be fixed against the insert core by a mold, the molten metal or resin is flown into the space formed between the reinforced fiber member and the insert core, thereby integrally forming the reinforced fiber member with the above metal or resin.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a golf club having a hollow head and to a golf club head die to cast such a hollow golf club head. The golf club head of this invention has a hollowly formed head and a golf club shaft which is inserted through this hollow part. Further, in the golf club head die of the present invention, a shaft hole pin is arranged through the insert core, and its one end is inserted into the positioning hole formed in one of divided die members. Still further, in the golf club head die of this invention, after casting of the head body, the insert core piece at the center is removed through the opening in the sole and the other insert core pieces around it are moved to the position of this removed insert core piece to be removed through the opening.

Abstract: A grip of a golf club according to the present invention prevents slipping, when the grip is grasped by a hand opposite to a whip hand, by applying an area having a plurality of projections to the area of the grip corresponding to the respective bases of the middle finger, the ring finger and the little finger of the palm of the hand opposite to said whip hand and to the palm located on the extension of the neighborhood of the base of the little finger of said palm. Also, since there is an area where a plurality of projections or dents are formed being separated independently one by one. Accordingly, when the whole of the element body of the grip is ground from the surface in a uniform depth, the fiber is exposed in the area having a plurality of plane portions and the fiber is not exposed in the area having a plurality of jogs. In this area where the fiber is exposed, a moderate non-slip effect is obtainable and soft grip feeling is presented.

Abstract: An iron club head which comprises a core body having a core portion, a sole portion, and a hosel portion. The core portion is formed with a front or club face at the predetermined inclination and includes a ball impacting portion. An inner layer of non-metallic fiber reinforced synthetic resin is laminated with an outer layer of metallic woven fabric reinforced synthetic resin and are provided coveringly on said core portion. The inner layer is constituted of a first layer which comprises non-oriented fiber reinforced synthetic resin which includes a thermosetting resin impregnated into non-metallic fiber bundles. The inner layer also contains a second layer which is constituted of non-metallic woven fabric reinforced synthetic resin with a thermosetting resin impregnated thereinto. The outer layer is integrated with fiber in which a thermosetting resin is impregnated. The woven fabric may be of any suitable weave, such as long shaft, plain or the like.

Abstract: An iron golf club head comprising a base metal body having a sole portion which latter is continuous with a hosel portion at the heel end of said sole portion. A weight setting block is provided spacedly above said base metal body and being supported in such position by a plurality of spaced apart support members. A vertical space is disposed between the weight setting block and the hosel portion. A step is formed on said base for receiving the base portion of a fiber-reinforced synthetic resin body encasingly covering said support member and thereby conducing to the security of said synthetic resin material in operative position. A fiber-reinforced synthetic resin layer is also provided on the outer surface of the hosel and at the outer surface of the weight setting block. The weight setting block support members may be of various configurations and of relative dimensions.

Abstract: A metal golf club head having a core with a face or ball-addressing surface; the core being connected to a hosel. At least the core face is covered by a first layer of non-oriented short fiber reinforced synthetic resin, and a second layer of reinforced synthetic resin material disposed on said first layer. The first and second layers, being resilient, impart energy to the ball after striking. A reinforced fiber tape may be disposed about the zone joining the core and the hosel, as well as the hosel, for increasing the mechanical strength of such connecting portion; said first and second synthetic layers being disposed over said reinforced fiber tape.

Abstract: A metal golf club head comprising a face portion, a wing extending from the upper end of said face portion rearwardly thereof. The upper surface of said wing is contoured for coincidence with the radial trajectory of the golf club head during down swinging thereof. A toe portion extends rearwardly from the outer end of the face portion, a sole portion extends rearwardly from the lower end of said head with there being a rearwardly opening recess in said club head defined by the wing, sole portion, toe portion, rearward surface of said face portion and a heel portion at the inner end of said face portion. Said wing and said toe portion may be constructed independently of said head and secured to the face portion thereof as by suitable fasteners.
