Abstract: The invention relates to the field of optical fiber cables, and more particularly to the field of low cost optical fiber cables. It is an optical fiber cable comprising a central reinforcing element (1), a plurality of optical fibers (4) surrounding the central reinforcing element (1), the bare optical fibers (4) being pressed in contact against the central reinforcing element (1) in such a manner as to be mechanically coupled to the central reinforcing element (1). The optical fiber cable of the invention is suitable for use in particular as a distribution cable or as an access cable in local networks.
