Abstract: A lubrication system for an engine includes a sump for lubricant, a pump to pump lubricant along a lubricant feed line to lubrication positions within the engine, and a lubricant conditioner, and wherein the pump is an electrically driven pump which is controlled by a system controller, there being a diverter valve which is under the control of the controller selectively to divert at least a proportion of the lubricant from the lubricant feed line to the lubricant conditioner.

Abstract: A pump including an electric motor mounted in a motor casing, and a rotatable pumping member, the pumping member when rotated by the motor pumping a first fluid, there being a first fluid flow path for the first fluid from a high pressure side of the pumping member, into the motor casing to cool the motor, and to a low pressure side of the pumping member, the pump further including a heat exchanger located between a wall of the motor casing and a heat load, the heat exchanger including a second fluid flow path for a second fluid so that in use, heat is exchanged between the first and second fluids.

Abstract: An apparatus (10) for pumping lubricant in an internal combustion engine, includes a lubrication pump (11) for the lubricant, and electric motor means (12) for driving the pump (11), the lubricant being contained in reservoir(s) in which at least the lubrication pump (11) is immersed, and the motor means (12) including a stator (14) and rotatable motive member (15) the stator (14) and rotatable motive member (15) being in contact with the lubricant from the reservoir(s).
Abstract: A pump has meshing inner and outer rotors mounted eccentrically in a housing. The pump also has an inlet and a main outlet. The main outlet communicates via a control gap with a secondary outlet. The control gap provides a filtering action for some of the fluid pumped.

Abstract: A positive displacement pump system has first and second delivery passages for pumped fluid and a main delivery passage receiving flow from the first delivery passage and, via a non return valve, from the second delivery passage. A control valve is provided to apportion flow from the first and second delivery passage to an overspill port. A pressure sensitive control orifice is provided in the main discharge passage to receive the combined flows and the control orifice is of variable size.
