  • Patent number: 6026982
Abstract: A holder for a container which is attached to the side of the container. The holder has an outer wall which, with the side of the container, defines a chamber therebetween with an opening to the chamber. The user's hand is inserted in the opening such that a forceful grip is not required to pick up and hold the container. The holder is electromagnetically welded or otherwise joined to the container. The holder is also formed on a zarf. A two-handed holder for the container permits both hands of the user to hold the container with a forceful grip not required.

  • Patent number: 5496244
Abstract: An exercise device is intended for strengthening a user's targeted muscle, wherein the user may manipulate the device without the necessity of a forceful grip that employs the user's conjunctive muscles. The device includes a housing having a pair of diametrically-opposed portions (preferably hemispherical) each of which has a peripheral edge. The peripheral edges are formed having alternating tongue and groove segments so as to provide a solid mating relationship therebetween. A single weight means is disposed in the housing, and the weight means has a pair of opposite ends, each of which is secured to a respective diametrically opposed portion of the housing. The housing has an opening formed therein defined by the walls of the device. An insert means is disposed in the opening to cushion the user's hand in the opening.

A plurality of extending and recessed ribs are arranged to provide for aligning the portions of the housing together and improving the structural integrity of the device. Ventilation slots are provided for improving air flow through the device, so as to avoid the build-up of heat therein. Lip segments are formed on the portions of the housing which are aligned to form a lip on the outer wall of the housing. The lip is disposed over the opening in which the user's hand is inserted.

  • Patent number: 5009416
Abstract: A handle is applicable to a wide variety of apparatuses, equipment and devices found in industry, commerce, in the home, or for exercise or recreational purposes. The handle may be fashioned integrally with the apparatus or as a retrofit attachment therefor. In using the handle, the person's hand is inserted through an opening and into a chamber formed between the inner and outer walls of the handle. The palm of the person's hand substantially rests on the convex inner surface of an inner wall of the handle, while the back of the person's hand substantially confronts the concave inner surface of the outer wall. With this arrangement, the user's hand is maintained substantially in a curved natural "at rest" position, rather than being tightly closed, so that a forceful grip is no longer necessary.

  • Patent number: 4900016
Abstract: A method of use of an exercise device for strengthening a user's targeted muscle, such as a bicep or the like. The device includes a spherical housing having a weighted casing disposed. The housing has a cut-away portion and further has an opening formed therein which are in communication with each other. When the hand of the user is disposed in the opening, a forceful grip is not required during use of the exercise device. Thus the conjunctive use of adjoining muscles is substantially obviated, and the development of the targeted muscle is substantially improved. The user moves the exercise device alternately between a stressed position and an at rest position.
