  • Patent number: 4191366
Abstract: The base surface of a rigid plate rests upon the work support surface of a machine tool. An insert, having an aperture therethrough, is journalled within the plate. A pin is detachably affixed to a work piece and extended through the aperture. Access is provided through the edge of the plate for engaging the pin to the insert and for cammingly advancing and retracting the insert relative the base surface. In response to advancement of the insert, the work piece is drawn against the work bearing surface of the plate. Random aperture location to accommodate several randomly placed pins is provided by a plurality of rotatably journalled inserts, each having a slotted aperture.

  • Patent number: 4184026
Abstract: An inexpensive yet reliable method for incorporating a minor fraction of a percent by weight of nucleating agent in a propylene polymer is provided in which the nucleating agent is dissolved at a concentration of less than 10% in a homogeneous, alcohol-based, carrier liquid having a normal boiling point of not over about 120.degree. C. The resultant solution is atomized into a full jet spray of fine droplets which is directed with full and even coverage onto a loose pulverulent bed of propylene polymer powder over a period of time and with sufficient agitation of said bed to expose essentially all segments of the bed to direct contact with said spray.

  • Patent number: 4179040
Abstract: A container having a slidable article-removing internal insert which consists of a tray and a projecting handle that is so constructed to be guided for unobstructable movement within the container receptacle. Moreover, the means for such guided movement is incorporated into the handle arrangement of the insert in a fashion that positively restrains the insert for virtually the whole extent of its travel in the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4172712
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically wetting and mixing glass batch immediately prior to its introduction into a glass melting furnace. This apparatus is an axillary extension of a typical glass furnace charger hopper and provides for complete glass batch wetting and mixing immediately adjacent the glass melting furnace so as to minimize the possibility of batch "dryout" and similarly thereby minimize atmospheric dust pollution and other associated problems. Mixing action is continuous and the apparatus is arranged such that a fluid, normally water, is added to and mixed with the batch responsive to charger operation. The apparatus is structured in such fashion to emphasize mixing rather than material conveyance, thus reducing wear upon the structural elements while at the same time providing complete and uniform wetting of the batch within same.

  • Patent number: 4164456
Abstract: The limiting current density is increased without detrimentally affecting the quality of the metal deposit in an electrolytic process employing an electrolyte containing a dissolved metal sulfate, by adding sufficient quantities of the metal sulfate in a particulate state to maintain a solids concentration of the metal sulfate in the electrolyte during the electrodeposition.

  • Patent number: 4163561
Abstract: A novel, fatigue resistant fitting of the joint ring type used between bolted, flanged sections of high pressure tubing is provided which safely and durably serves the dual functions of high pressure joint sealing and convenient instrumentation tap access. The fitting comprises two concentric, thick-walled cylindrical shells with the outer shell shrink-fitted onto the inner shell which is free of threaded portions or other stress concentration points except for one or two radial bores at about its midlength, and in axial alignment with each of said radial bores, a cleanly threaded aperture of substantially larger diameter through said outer shell. For maximum fatigue resistance under difficult service, the compound shell fitting is also subjected to an autofrettage treatment.
