Abstract: The method includes the steps of acquiring, by at least one camera having a predetermined magnification ratio, at least one image containing at least one coded information and at least one object and properly associating the coded information with the at least one object on the basis of the position of the coded information and of the at least one object along an advancing direction with respect to a fixed reference system. The above-mentioned position of the coded information is determined starting from the position of the coded information within the image acquired by the camera and on the basis of the distance of the coded information from the camera. Such a distance is in turn determined on the basis of the magnification factor of a reference physical dimension detected at a surface of the object or of the coded information.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and methods for interfacing a scan engine for scanning optical code symbols and a decoder. The system employs a configurable communication interface configured to generate a relaxed DBP signal that is independent of the scanning distance or the scan rate used in a scanning operation using a DBP signal from the scan engine. A relaxed DBP signal may be generated by scaling a narrowest pulse in a pulse sequence to a fixed minimum pulse width. A relaxed DBP signal having transmission slots of a fixed duration may be generated by calculating a minimum pulse duration that enables transmission of a pulse sequence within the fixed duration. Upon scaling the narrowest pulse in a pulse sequence to the minimum pulse width, either fixed or calculated, the remaining pulses are scaled so as to maintain a relative proportionality of each pulse width in the pulse sequence.
Abstract: A barcode decoding method includes obtaining a plurality of scanning lines defining a second set of scanning lines which also comprises a predetermined scanning line. Each scanning line has a first set of pixels, each identified by a first and by a second index. The pixels that are part of the second set of scanning lines define a third set of pixels and, from the pixels of the third set of pixels, it is possible to select a fourth set of pixels to construct an oversampled profile of the barcode, ordering intensity values calculated from the intensity values of the pixels of the fourth set. The pixels of the fourth set include pixels of the predetermined scanning line and further pixels of the third set that do not belong to the predetermined scanning line, to obtain a subpixel resolution that is able to decode the barcode.
Abstract: A method for decoding a two-dimensional optical code formed by a set number of codewords, wherein decoding the code based on a single acquired image has not been successful, includes analyzing an acquired image and at least one further acquired image and obtaining a respective set and further set of values of identified codewords. Each codeword can take on either an undefined value or vice versa a numeric value if the codeword is recognized. A combined set of codewords is created and each codeword of the combined set is assigned a value of a codeword of the set and/or of the further set and an algorithm for detecting and self-correction of errors is applied to the combined set to obtain confirmation of successful decoding of the two-dimensional code.

Abstract: A portable device includes coded information reading means, digital image acquisition means and an illuminator, associated with the acquisition means for acquiring images. The illuminator is powerable by a driving signal which corresponds to a first current signal in a first operating mode for illuminating an image to be acquired and is powerable by the driving signal which corresponds to a second current signal in a second operating mode for emitting a visual indication indicating the outcome of the reading of the coded information, read by coded information reading means. The illuminator, which acts as a flash to acquire an image in the first operating mode, thus also acts as a visual indication of the reading outcome in the second operating mode and illuminates with a continuous or intermittent light the space in front of the illuminator to indicate to an operator that the coded information has been read.
Abstract: An image capturing device includes an image forming device including a sensor defining an optical reception axis, at least one reading distance, and a region framed by the sensor on a substrate at said at least one reading distance. An illumination device includes an array of adjacent light sources defining an optical illumination axis. The light sources are individually drivable, and each light source is adapted to illuminate an area of a size much smaller than the size of said region framed by the sensor. The illumination axis does not coincide with the reception axis. A driver of the light sources is adapted to drive the light sources so as to switch off at least the light sources that illuminate outside of the boundary of the region framed by the sensor on the substrate at said at least one reading distance.
