Patent number: 6841065Abstract: A fluid filter assembly having a relief valve for visually indicating when a filter element may be replaced. The fluid filter assembly of the present invention provides a vertical, transparent housing having a fluid inlet for communicating a fluid into the housing and a fluid outlet for communicating fluid downstream of the housing. A filter element is disposed within the housing between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet for filtering the fluid.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2002Date of Patent: January 11, 2005Assignee: Davco Manufacturing, L.L.C.Inventors: Paul B. Smith, Kevin J. Rucinski, Alfred Tondreau, Ken Conti

Patent number: 5832902Abstract: A unitary temperature control bypass and fuel filtering device for an engine for heating fuel in the fuel filter. The device has an entry passage for receiving excess fuel from the engine, a first outlet passage for communicating with the fuel tank and a second outlet passage directing heated fuel into the fuel filtering device and then terminating in the first outlet passage. A central chamber communicating with the entry and outlet passages is centrally located between the passages and has a piston therein having reciprocal movement between the outlet passages for selectively blocking one of the outlet passages, wherein the piston is responsive to the fuel temperature in the filtering device.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1997Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Davco Manufacturing L.L.C.Inventors: Stephen D. Patent number: 5766449Abstract: A fuel filter assembly that provides a constant level of least restricted fuel flow through the fuel filter assembly during the useful life of the filter media by utilizing the least possible amount of filter media to provide the least possible pressure differential over the filter media while also providing a constant level of fuel additive by exposing an amount proportional to the filter media required for the least possible restricted fuel flow. The fuel filter assembly utilizes a vertically upward housing that houses a filter media and a fuel additive. The fuel level slowly rises in the housing as the filter media becomes obstructed with contaminants and as the fuel additive dissolves over the life of the filter media. The top portion of the housing is made of a transparent material so that the level of fuel level may be easily determined, thereby allowing for an accurate and simple assessment of the useful life of the filter media and the fuel additive.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1995Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Davco Manufacturing L.L.C.Inventor: Leland L. Patent number: 5535724Abstract: A fuel pulsation dampener for reducing and dampening fuel pressure pulsations and for checking excessive back flow or siphoning of fuel on both the supply side and return side of the fuel lines in order to maintain fuel levels within the fuel injectors of an internal combustion engine during the starting and stopping of the engine. The fuel pulsation dampener provides a housing having a first and second enclosed chambers that remain in communication with one another via a passageway. The first chamber provides a first inlet and a first outlet wherein the first inlet communicates pressurized fuel into the first chamber. The first outlet has at least one port for communicating fuel in the first chamber downstream of the first chamber to the fuel injectors of the engine. The second chamber provides a second outlet and a second inlet wherein the second inlet communicates fuel into the second chamber from upstream of the second chamber.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1995Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Assignee: Davco Manufacturing L.L.C.Inventor: Stephen D.
