Abstract: A ballistic breacher shield has a combined shield/battering ram functionality. The breacher shield's design permits an officer assigned to breach a barrier (such as a door) to have shield protection as he approaches the barrier, a battering ram to break open the barrier, and then the shield protection again once the barrier has been breached. The officer's follow-through for breaching a door positions the breacher shield to provide cover for the entire team lined up in a stack for entering the barricaded dwelling. The breacher shield has a flattened top to provide a greater area of impact for battering and a shape/size to act as a shield. The sizes of the shields may vary to accommodate individual preference and/or the size of operator. Shields are suitable for right-handed or left-handed operators, and may have an agency identifier and/or lights used for illumination or red and blue flashing lights for use as identifiers and attention attractors.

Abstract: A ballistic shield is detachably attachable to a weapon. The shield may be manipulated into a deployed configuration, a gun rest configuration, and a storage configuration. The shield has a shield body with a rigid upper portion, a flexible lower portion, and a quick release connector. That shield may also have a visor attachable to the shield that extends above the rigid upper portion of the shield. The quick release is secured to the shield body for removable connection of the weapon. The flexible lower portion drapes from the rigid upper portion when in the deployed configuration where the weapon is connected to the shield and the responder aims the weapon in a shooting position.

Abstract: A composite ballistic panel provides cost-effective ballistic protection against projectiles. The composite ballistic panel comprises a composite ballistic assembly with an impact/strip layer that alters the projectile during striking contact with the projectile by flattening the projectile, distorting the shape of the projectile, reducing rotation of the projectile, reducing the velocity of the projectile, and inducing yaw to the projectile; a non-ballistic deflection layer that forms a cavity to inhibit propagation of the projectile's shock wave; and a containment layer that stops and captures the projectile within the composite ballistic assembly. Additionally, the composite ballistic panel may have a protection layer and a boundary edge to enhance capture of the projectile and ballistic characteristics, and an intermediate layer that acts as spacer between layers.
